Designs have been drawn up for an airborne laser or ABL system to be fitted on a specially modified Clandonain Air Force 747-400T with the capacity to carry enough laser fuel for around 20 shots, with each shot allowing a 4-8 second time for firing able to destroy a missile inflight by melting its outer skin ensuring that the aerodynamics to fail causing the missile to crash. The aircraft could take out a matter of targets including ICBM's, TBM's and even low orbital satellites.
Considerations have been scaling down the size onto tanks and aircraft for pin point missile defence systems. Power limitations would be small due to the chemical requirement meaning it would be a finite defence system not unlike a flare or chaff system. Testing of the aircraft will begin in 8 months time, with a crew of 25 the aircraft will have a 2000 mile unfueled range with airborne refueling improvements to missile defence meaning that the aircraft could be used against missiles 400 km from their targets allowing for a good safety distance.
Ballotechnics research has been looked into, Clandonian Nuclear enginers have looked into nuclear isomers that were prouduced from a experimental Quantum nucleonic reactor, tantalum-180m, osmium-187m, platinum-186m, hafnium-178m, and zinc-66m. These high energy isomers consist of spin and shape isomers. Possible so called 'clean fusion nuclear bombs' creating no fallout but the escaping gamma radiation and indused radioactivity from the neutron reflux. Because such weapons do not incorporate a neutron reflector then it will consitute a ballotechnic neutron bomb meaning such weapons could be as small as a tennis ball.
Plans have been drawn up for such devices mounting onto Clandonian missiles would be able easy due to their size. Using the new Storm Shadow MK2 designs simulations have given that missiles could have a 2000 mile range from aircraft launch creating a potent phycological weapon and ideal for tactical situations in destroying enemy electrical systems classing this weapon as a radiological weapon. Such research is considred highly classified due to its destructive power, aims are to have a working device in 4 years time for test in the Clandonian Whisky Desert in the Northern Province.
Due to monetary matters the ABL system will be put on hold until a suitable partner can be found due to straining resources laser research is halted, we look towards our allies for a joint project or one of the countries we offered a non-agresion pact with.
