The Clandonians had, a while ago, given the green light to a number of large military and aerial bases being constructed around Clandonia for Clandonia's protection. Thus far, they had served their purpose, accommodating a large concentration of Belkan forces for rapid response in the event of an invasion of the Clandonian mainland; a likely target given its position close to Belka, its relative unpopularity among the global community (especially among ISAF nations) and the comparative lack of defence when compared with a few of the other ComFIAN nations.

The Belkan troop congregation had served as a mighty deterrent to such as the Pythogrians and others. But now it was to serve a different purpose.

In the dead of night, Belkan SpecFor forces posted within the bases had slaughtered all non-Belkan personnel at the main ComFIAN staging airbase ((OOC: Cant remember the name)) and all the joint ComFIAN bases. Simultaneously, the Belkan forces at those bases assumed total control, and began to use them to advance outwards. The airbase was completely hijacked, turning into a preliminary C&C for aerial assaults on Clandonia from within the nation itself. Acid-bomb bombardments on the capital and other major industrial strongholds happened within mere hours of the attack taking place, with no warning whatsoever; anyone who could've given a warning had died before it had been given. Worse, the carjacked planes bore friendly (and sometimes even Clandonian) insignias. A squadron of F-22s was literally stolen out and flown back to Belka without a shot being fired. The acid assaults were conducted by the Belkan Blackjacks and formerly-Clandonian B-1B Lancers, all jacked away, corroding the Clandonian infrastructure away with frightening speed.

Elsewhere, Belka began mass aerial bombardment campaigns on all her neighbours save for Gaiana, mobilising all her forces currently on the continent to provide garrisons on major towns and cities or to bolster border defences in preparation for incursion or invasion.

Over on the Pythogrian front, the Belkan contingents turned on their ComFIAN allies and Atlantian former allies. The whole thing seemed to go off with an incredible synchrony, and all were caught completely by surprise. Airstrikes sank naval forces, dumped incendiary or acidic weapons on the completely bewildered Atlantian and Clandonian forces, and wreaked havoc with forward command, as did the SpecFors, who tried to seize control of as many as they could to minimise equipment losses. The more they could steal, the more they could turn back, just as they had done in Clandonia; an act which could safely be called the largest and most audacious carjacking in history.

OOC: Yes. It's godmoddy :p But since the storyline got ruined anyway, and I had this planned for awhile with Crave, I figured what the hell.

As per Operation Great Wall, the evacuation of Atlantian troops had been proceeding quite nicely when the Belkans attacked. Here, however, in their assault, they found themselves facing not ordinary soldiers, but agents of the Occupation Force, a military group of housekeeping garrison soldiers and reservists, poorly trained, poorly equipped, and poorly prepared for what was coming. In the Pythogrian capital, the Occupation Force Headquarters remained barricaded, and others had fled to the underground nuclear research facility co-owned now with the Rivanans. Poorly trained men abandoned their posts, running for hasty cover and forgetting even the basic equipment, a factor which surely contributed to the initial Belkan success. It was in the capital city however, that resistance began to get fierce quickly. Here, the Pythogrian people had enjoyed pleasures such as uninterrupted electricity, kept on mostly for military and occupation purposes, and running water. Whereas days before they had begun signing up for the International Brigades to head to Atlantia for training aboard C-160 Transalls, they now fought with improvised and stolen weapons, with no training, but the same ferocity exhibited by those of partisans. The Belkan doctrine was extermination, despite allegiance or nationality. Now, Pythogrians fought alongside those who were once their conquerers, and they fought desperately for their own lives.
Offshore, the fleet had mostly already set sail, with merchant ships ferrying supplies and the occasional battalion mostly being escorted by outdated frigates. It was a blue milk run to the very core, something which clearly wasn't worth the effort of the Atlantian Navy which had commitments to defending the homeland against possible Clandonian airstrikes.

At the Pythogrian capital, acid and napalm bombardment set the city ablaze. At night, fierce and raging infernos obliterated swathes of residential areas and the central park district. The Belkans mostly stayed towards the edge of the capital. Strangely, they ignored Rivanan forces as much as was possible, but when everything was being levelled, burned, shot or otherwise destroyed, it was inevitable that they would encounter Rivanans who would probably be none too pleased at the devastation. Naturally, power, road, rail, bridge-crossing and other important resource links were severed wherever possible. The Belkans were leaving nothing here to chance. The same was true of the Clandonian front, the aim being to cut off or slow reinforcements and delay intel as much as possible. To that end, any power station, airfield, airport, bridge, railroad or highway within range was targeted following the crippling of military and factory installations. Sorties were running round-the-clock, landing only to refuel and rearm before flying another mission. Six or seven sorties flew at once, while ground incursions hit areas where the planes weren't going.

'What the bloody hell? the Belkans have they gone crazy?'

'We must defend our nation from the facists, contact the Atlantians and ISAF about this.'

'Destroy all Belkan bases in Clandonia, mobalise all Teritorial Army units and prepare a counter attack shell their bases and someone get me the airforce on a phone that works!'

'Yes sir.'

'Message the AU, asking for nuclear bombardment on Belka and just incase tactical nukeing the Belkan forces in Clandonia itself. Mobalise all targon regiments I want the Belkans to realise if they use acid bombs on our capital that we mean business.'

The Belkans were fast, though. Already they had hit a number of supply routes, nearby bases and thrown a number of areas into disarray. Use of targon or nuclear retaliation on the bases inside Clandonia would just be laughable. Use of them inside Belkan soil would turn Clandonia and any who assisted her in the bombardment to glass; Megalith had already been used in the war, and she hadn't even warmed up.

The attack pressed on. Belka broke the border with Clandonia, charging in. The Clandonians now fought a war against internally-placed enemies as well as those charging in from the Belkan border.

General Stregov with his 41st division was sitting in his headquarters in North Pythogria reading battle reports. The phone on his desk rang. He picked it up and answered in an official tone.
- "Stregov."
Suddenly his eyes became bleak.
- "They did WHAT?!"

Meanwhile in the Pythogrian capital
--------
As half of the city is in flame the Atlantian army are preparing defenses hastily, meanwhile their operatives are running towards the Rivanan camps with their hands up. The Rivanans take them in and lead them to the bunkers that they occupy. Meanwhile the commander of the Rivanan force is giving orders by phone.

- "Look, the supplies have been stopped at the demarkation line, we can't do anything for gods sake - not with this bombardment... I don't care, just ready the anti-air and wait for my mark."

The moment he put down the phone, it rang again. He told a lieutenant in the room to answer them and just tell them to be ready to push the envelope when the order comes. Meanwhile he himself left the room and went to the communications tent just outside. As he came out of his makeshift command center he could see the capital of Pythogria burning in a briliant fire.

- "Motherland be praised..."

He ran into the communications tent and immediatly got two operatives to set the radio frequency on one used by Belkans. One of the operatives listening on different frequencies stood up.

- "Comrade commander, one of our agents just reported that the Clandonians have contacted the ISAF. The Atlantian and Clandonian forces are rallying against the Belkans."
- "How typical of them. What about this capital? Any reports on the damage?"
- "Either they didn't reach our part of the city yet, or they are genuinely trying to avoid bombing our positions."
- "I have to try and contact them. Send a message to all units not to open fire unless fired upon. What are you up to, Belka..."

Saying that, he grabbed the microphone and started talking with a worried tone.

- "This is commander Ramon of the 43rd Rivanan division. I demand to be informed what is the meaning of this!"

Over on the Belkan side, the officially-ordered response was to send no reply of any kind. However a young Belkan officer, Commander Marak Poletzan, was able to get off a small transmission without his other officers knowing.

We do not like this any more than you do, but if we do not obey we are killed...there are eyes everywhere. Since the Great Leader's death, they've watched us more and more closely. They suspect assassination, but can't point the finger. They suspect ComFIAN, ISAF, even us. They will destroy Belka, or they will destroy the rest of the world. They care not either way.
I cannot say more, except to apologise for the loss of life we are forced to cause. When discussing this message, do not use my name or unit. My life is now in your hands.
Cmdr Marak Poletzan, FRBA, 393rd Armour

The death of the Great Leader was news to anyone outside Belka, and indeed news to many Belkans themselves. Only the upper echelons of politics or the army knew anything about it. News networks were prohibited from making any mention of Holdan's condition being anything less than perfect. Any who dared to ask questions would be arrested later. The whole country had plunged into a state of paranoia beyond paranoia. Arrests over the most trivial crime, homeless people disappearing from the streets, even the slightest whiff of dissent, sedition or discontent was met with disproportionate responses from the military police. Though it had always been heavy-handed, it had never been this bad before.

Many citizens right now dared not leave their homes. Indeed, the regular ground-pounder was more vulnerable even than the average civvy. Orders had become more brutal, but none protested anymore. A couple who had protested at the butchering of Pythogrians had been executed. The officers had it even worse. Amongst the ranks of regulars were government moles who, in addition to their duties of fighting the enemies outside, were responsible with spying on their 'superior' officers' tactics. It was impossible to escape their eyes, nor was it possible to escape the eyes of the generals. As a result, all were forced to comply to their utmost, lest they be killed by an enemy within.

Back in Clandonia the chiefs of staff of the Joint Operations centre had fled to a bunker complex complex in the Whiskey Desert near Tyranistan. Central Command had been evacuated and it had been decided that Clandon City was too dangerous now as well.

'As you can see from the map we are under attack from the Belkan-Clandonian border and from the South around the Kirkland Down base which was overun.'

'The TA are holding the rear lines with their numbers, we have the 1st and 2nd Armies advancing with their armoured units to defend the borders. In total we have around 200,000 in that direction with rougly around 200 Chalenger Tanks. We have then planned a defensive line with artilery sites and trench networks enginers are already constructing defences and laying mines. We have roughly around 20,000 away in Auroria making the situation very bad the TA and general public are very loyal and protective and have been rallying round.'

'And the air force?'

'Well the Belkans managed to steal 20 F-22 raptors from Kirkland Down the bastards, we do however have our F-302s ready for air defence in the North and South. We are bringing the 4th Long Range Bomber wing into action hoping to pound the South cutting down their advance.'

'We have 100,000 men trying to go to the aid of our forces trapped around Kirkland Down we have commenced airstrikes on Belkan occupied buildings from Urkov Airbase to try and root them out.'

'And the navy?'

'We are worried that the Atlantian fleet is acting in a hostile manner, they have attacked civilian shipping I am preparing to bring out the Exoan Fleet for patrols to create a safe haven in Clandonian waters.'

'So, I expect you are all wondering why the Belkans launched an attack, well my Rivanian counterpart sent communication that he was radioed a message from a young officer explaining that their Leader is dead and they are in a state of paranoia with invasions going on into the other countries. Gentlemen this hasnt been the most dangerous state our country has been in, in its entire history. We must fight on too the death and only hope that the Belkans see the error of their ways and withdraw.'

Rivanan Theta theatre HQ in North Pythogria
--------
General Stregov has called an emergency meeting mostly between his own general staff, though two Pythogrian generals were to be there as well.
- "As you are all aware as of this morning the Free Republic of Belka is officially in state of war with far too many countries to count on one hand. So far they have bombarded Atlantian positions in the Pythogrian capital, leaving us alone - but we must be ready for anything, even for a potential push towards the north."

- "Comrade general.." - one of the commanders rose up. - "A Belkan rogue transmission has been captured. It appears that.. uhh .. as of yesterday they have has no leader. They are all in anarchy.. essentially."

This caused an uproar of surprise among the staff.

- "What? When?" - Stregov asked.
- "Two hours ago. The Clandonians got the leaked info."
- "Jam the Belkan frequency. Tell nobody! As of now this is a matter of national security and is to be discussed with nobody. I need to contact the premier. Meeting adjourned!"

"Commander Poletzan, you are charged with dissertion, mutiny and crimes jeopardising the lives of your fellow soldiers, countrymen and governmental leaders. You are pronounced guilty and sentenced to immediate execution by firing squad."

Within ten minutes, Poletzan was dead. Before a court of one, he had been pronounced guilty before he had even opened his mouth. Ten privates formerly under his command were called upon to gun down the young Commander. The bullets tore through his torso, and blood spewed from his mouth and exit-wounds as he flopped to the floor in a heap. The privates were then ordered straight back to the front lines to assault a Clandonian position.

The wars went on on all fronts, the Belkans attacking furiously, fiercely, but never carelessly.

War Room
Top Secret Bunker 50mi from Patal

"SitRep!"
"As of twenty miniutes ago, Belkan forces began forcing their way through Clandonia. Pythogrian capital has been firebombed to the ground. And the Clandonians are asking us to nuke the Belkans."

Almost the entire Aesanian government was present. The Directorate, the Joint Chiefs, and even the President himself. It was the safest place to be in all of the Union.

"Don't respond... There's nothing we can do now that would help both of us."
"Yes, sir."

Technicians sat at their posts, red light bathing the interior of the bunker. Men stood at sand tables, plotting the course of the Belkans' onslaught through their allies.

"We don't have much time to do anything... They'll be looking to us, soon. I want our forces worldwide put at the highest alert. Our borders are officially closed. Nobody in, nobody out. The entire Home Defense Army is to be at the highest alert level possible, and they are to be on the border 24/7."
"Yes, sir!"

The young radio operator began relaying the orders as the end of the game began...

Amidst the chaos of the frontlines of the eastern Atlantian border, a beetle like man, short and quite fat, walked on with quite some effort towards a road. Around him, chaos brewed. Occasionally, a plane would fly overhead, low, only to be blown up by an equally low flying plane firing off short range missiles. To his left, the north, a battle raged between tanks, the defenders on the west clearly with the technical upperhand but totally overwhelmed, forcing them to quickly retreat in any direction possible. While this was happening, the country was perhaps falling apart, but the beetle-like balding man continued forward, walking forth in his orange jumpsuit. On the back, the letters "ASDF" were stenciled in, below a tear in the suit and a particularly nasty little cut, one which was caused by a flying piece of aluminum roughly the size of a quarter, but nonetheless would not stop aggravating the little creature, whose short, fat legs continued to drive him fastidiously towards an abandoned car. Planes continued to fly overhead, and military utility vehicles sped down the road on the westerly direction. The little man turned on the engine, it worked thankfully for a bit of luck, and turned off, pulling a u-turn and waving goodbye to the corpse which had stumbled out of the vehicle, a few bulletholes in the windshield. In front of him lay six or seven miles to the Belkan border, and no traffic to speak of. Much like a rat, Felix Gouin had again escaped justice.

In Farbanti, Belka - Rivanan ambassadors unaware of the situation have by now been literally pleading to meet with the Great Leader or one of his representatives. The phone literally never stopped ringing.

Meanwhile in Lebada an emergency meeting has been called by the premier in the middle of the night. The supreme commander, all kinds of directors and the highest party members all attended.
- "This is useless. The Belkans have no intention of stopping till they conquer everyone. We should just take this matter into our own hands, and use the Clandonian Targon now!"
- "Will someone remove this man from the room? He obviously has no idea what he is talking about."
The Premier looked at both of them in a almost piercing manner
- "Denied. I want to have the whole situation relayed to me once more."
One of the generals stood up.
- "Clandonia is basically conquered, the Belkans are surrounding the Pythogrian capital and the ISAF is most likely planning a counterstrike.
Mrezov thought for a moment.
- "Declare "sum of all fears". Shift all capable motherland forces to the Aesanian border. If I am right this is the beginning of the end. The next strike will come from the south..."

At a Clandonian AS-90 battery the commander had been sent a messenger on a bike as communications were in chaos near the border.

'Fire at will at the Belkans!'

'Yes sir!'

The battery of 8 guns opened up on the Belkan infantry positions tearing them apart as the AS-90's autoloaders kicked in bringing a deadly burst every minute.

All hell had broken loose across the many fronts of what would probably be known as the Belkan War for decades to come. Anything their enemies could throw, the Belkans could throw back every bit as hard or harder. Numbers overcame any deficit, and the Belkans were as ferocious as they were merciless. Cities, towns, piles of corpses burned under bombardments from artillery, aircraft, tanks, mortars...literally anything that could be used as a weapon, the Belkans used it. Agricultural land on both sides of Belkan borders was flash-burned. Animals and stores on Belkan-occupied lands were moved away or, failing that, burned. On the Pythogrian front, the general doctrine was to push the enemy back, push them back and, when they finally dug in, napalm or simply blow the hell out of the positions. Where aircraft were unable to be committed, naval bombardments or artillery barrages were used instead. Armour-wise, the commonly-used Jerkov Doctrine was in full force, with overlapping tank and mechanised formations 'walking' the enemy backwards. Where a stiffer resistance was put up, the rear formation would 'run' forward and link with the leading formation in order to double the effort.

The Rivanans were only able to raise the newly-appointed Prime Minister Cheroklev, or Foreign Minister Poranav. Both were openly receptive, though the latter was very much strained in his manner. However, he was more than willing to listen over the phone, giving the excuse that the Great Leader was naturally predisposed with the great crusade the outside evils seeking to destroy Belka, and as such was unable to receive their calls himself. It was obvious he was being listened in on, and so could say little else. Indeed, amongst the cabinet and the people, Belka was at war with Clandonia and Atlantia, and had always been so. Pythogria was a given, and a theater for the battle. They were seen as subhuman by the media, which fed endless streams of propaganda, proclaiming the killing fields and burning corpses to be Belkan dead, and the cities that were burning to be areas of Belka that the enemy had mercilessly annexed and sewn seeds of corruption and 'Belkaphobia' in decades or more before. Every time the leader of the AU, Clandonia or Atlantia's name was mentioned on the news, it was always preceded with words such as 'loathsome', 'hated', 'abominable', 'decadent', 'imperialist', or whatever other pejorative the newscasters could ad lib at the time.

"...the great cancer on the face of the Earth that is Clandonia will soon be cut out forever. Our glorious forces have brought them to their knees, and will soon cleanse our borders of their hatred. Their pollution of lands which are rightfully ours must be cleansed. Our Great Leader asks us to rally to his cause. Tax deductions will be given to every man who joins the military, and every woman who conceives within the next six months. Long live the Great Leader! Long live the Free Republic! This is Louanna Karsan, WorldNews."

Clandonia fights Facists

'Today Surpeme Commander General adressed the nation calling for ordinary Clandonians to fight the agressors as they tried to pass through the borders brave units of the Clandonian Artiltery slayed hundreads with our limited numbers.'

'Military Recruitment Centres were bursting today as people rushed to join up to fight the Belkans, hospitals were full of people giving blood to meet the demand incase of emergency medicine for our brave troops. With the Clandonian country going into overdrive to fight the agresors with gun and ammo sales at record levels many people are preparing to flee or fight.'

Cruik Fortress, Main Compound

As the Prime Minister finally read the messages from outside the walls of Cruik Fortress, he frowned with sadness. Belka turning on Clandonia, Atlantia being attacked by the same foe. It seemed the leadership of Belka was nonexistant at such a dire time.

"Aide, would you please send the Provisional Admiral, Supreme Commander, and the Airforce General up here? We have some matters do discuss..."
"Yes, sir. They will be here momentarily. Will you also be taking your 9:45 meeting with the Surgeon General?"
"The matters with the leaders of our nation's military forces are much more important right now than banning heavy-cholesterol foods. His appointment can wait until tomorrow."

A few minutes later...

"Did you want to speak with us, Prime Minister?"
"Perhaps you three may want a look at these reports from Atlantia and the Aesanian Union. It seems that Belka has finally snapped."
The three men read copies of the reports, and all tugged at their collars, knowing what the Prime Minister wanted to do.
"The Pythogrian transport vessels are filled up with fuel and supplies, and we have a day and a half until the Technical Destroyers are ready," reports the P. Admiral, still staring at the report.
"The forces back from Casmire are ready for deployment again in Atlantia. I don't think they'll like it, but they'll probably be happy to help our new allies, at least," reports the Supreme Commander, asking for coffee after.
"The airforce will be ready to assist for an overseas op. We'll have Razgriz Squadron, and three squadrons of Migs ready for transport," reports the Airforce General, after seconding that offer for coffee.
"Well, then if the Atlantians want our help, they will get it. Prepare to ship our new recruits over as well, they will come in handy with holding the Belkans back," tells the Prime Minister to the three highest ranking members of the Yuktobanian armed forces.

In Kazatimiru, at the port...

"Massive troop movements, you say? Well, then, looks like we'll have to be hospitable yet again. Take them straight to the transports, waiting in Pier 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8. The other ships will get prepared once the first five are loaded."

and then it dies. However after a period of slumber Razgriz returns
As the demon sleeps, man turns on man.
Its own blood, and madness soon cover the earth.
From the depths of despair awaken the Razgriz.
Its raven wings ablaze in majestic light.
Amidst the eternal waves of time
From a ripple of change shall the storm rise
Out of the abyss peer the eyes of a demon
Behold the Razgriz, its wings of black sheath
The demon soars through the dark skies
Fear and Death trail its shadow beneath
Until Men united wield a hallowed sabre
In Final Reckoning, the beast is slain.

Clandonian forces had been in another day of sevre fighting with the Belkan advance, with their incursion at Kirkland Down taken down by a swift bombardment Clandonian forces moved down South for Op Reinforce. More and more units mobalised with Teritorial Army soldiers maintaining defensive lines as full time troops tried to half the bombardment. The capital had become a hive of activity as Rapier defences went up, troops moved through and civilians prepared for the worst with hospitals stockpiling blood and medical supplies for the casulties of the war.

On the Belkan-Clandonian border, artilery bombardments had been trying to hold back the advancing Belkans that had no made it onto Clandonian soil. It had been decided that Clandonia would form a barrier which it was hoped would stop any more advances. AS-90 guns and the MLRS units had been firing, MLRS units had mined large areas as the well strucuted Clandonian Logisital Corps kept the DROPS and pallets moving supplying the hungry guns.

The Belkans threw a number of Blackjacks into the mix. Each one opened up and unleashed acid bombs on the artillery positions, the bombs detonating shortly before impact to maximise splash damage.
