10:39 local time, Lebada

Not 10 minutes ago a unsigned plane has landed in the Lebadan airport. As the stairs were attached to the airliner, a figure in a gray uniform walked down them and entered a black limousine. The army wasn't wasting any time, the limousine got moving as quickly as it could. It drove through the widest street in Lebada. The street itself was closed down for ordinary traffic. As the limousine slowed down before turning left and entering the Lebadan Red Square..

Suddenly - a bomb detonated on the nearby wall. In a moments notice the radio literally got swarmed with transmissions, as squads of soldiers approached the vehicle. The driver of the limousine ran out in shock, and was promptly shot by a soldier. He may have been innocent - nobody cared. At the side of the limousine where the figure inside the limousine was sitting - there was a huge hole. Two soldiers carefully removed the thrashed door, and a man with a camera poked inside where a large plate of metal had been in the now dead mans neck. A commisar on scene has rushed off into a alley and turned on his radio.
- "ID four - one - five. The prediction was succesful, the terrorists have bombed the premiers limousine!"

On a large screen on the wall a transmission from inside the limousine was being displayed to a small group of what seemed the highest party members. Meanwhile only but two people in the room we're actually stunned. One of them approached a figure sitting on a chair in the shadow.
- "Phase one is complete, comrade premier."
- "Good." - the figure said - "Let us proceed then."


Excerpt from RTV National News broadcast:

- "The whole nation of Rivana is shocked today at the remarkably disgusting and cowardish act of terrorism that took place today, on the very street of Lebada I am standing upon now.

[camera zooms in on the crowd of operatives and soldiers blocking a crowd of people from the attack site]

From what I can gather from the soldiers: premier Mrezov's limousine has been attacked by an explosive device planted on the route to the party office. The commisariat is trying to confirm the cause of this insecurity, and has promised to bring about justice for the perpetrators.

[someone hands the presenter a note, he reads it quickly then turns his head back up]

It appears the terrorist group responsible has admitted to the attacks. The group calls itself "the People's Republic of Rivana". What we will display now is the transmission that has been recieved from the terrorists themselves."

The screen changes to show a figure reading a message. The video is low quality, and the face of the man is concealed.

This is a message from the People's Republic of Rivana. You government is dead, just like your ideals. We require unconditional surrender of the current government as is. If this message is not heeded, we will continue sending it along with explosive gifts of all sorts. Be warned - taking action on anyone will be met by an invasion. We already have powerful allies. Their armies will squish your pathetic government and reinstate the true and only supreme leader - Comrade Premier Prokorov!

[Message ends]

The camera shifts back to the reporter.

- "The whole nation is absolutely certain that these attacks will not hinder our actions in the slightest, and that the retaliation will be swift and painful for our enemies. We will keep you informed. Goran Mayron. RTV National News."

Our glorious army is moving in to secure heavily populated areas. As stated by the vice-premier - this is for the protection of our country. Meanwhile the party office has confirmed today that our glorious premier Mrezov has in fact been travelling incognito in another vehicle, and is thus completely safe. He himself has given speech to the nation but an hour ago on the Red Square.

Citizens of Rivana! I am still alive! We have not fallen. What has transpired today was but a show of true intentions by the vile communists under the command of no other than Prokorov's loyalists! They will stand at nothing to regain their power, and once again oppress this great nation. It is to us to not let that happen. While it is tragic what this terrorism has brought to bear, that without suficient security we can no longer retain our freedoms - even in this sad moment when the nation's integrity has been compromised as the terrorists reached so close to the capital itself; the southern imperialists keep harboring them! They supply them and they use them to disrupt us from the inside! Prokorov is their puppet! We have all the evidence to confirm, and I will not hesitate to reveal the information that allows us to suspect this. The Aesanian Union is gathering forces near our border this very moment, and along with the large terrorist groups trained and supplied by them they will hit us as hard as they can in an attempt to finally break Rivana's power over this region! It is time that we take up arms, and show them that we are a power to be reckoned with! Rivana prevails!

As of today I officially delegalise all parties, groups and gatherings associated in any way with the Prokorovian enemies. All of the above will immediatly disband and cease operation, or be considered enemies of the state and met with the use of force. It is what we must do in order to keep security. No more comments.

A message to the world from the Rivanan Party Office

Leaders of the world.

Today we (the government of Rivana) have realised how unsecure our country is against the menace that is terrorism. Fortunately the attack has been foreseen by the wisdom of our great premier. But that is not the matter at hand. What is important is the timely change in tactics of the Aesanian Union. Where they once met their enemies in the open field, now they fight with slime and deceipt. They do not hesitate to risk the lives of ordinary people in order to preach their hateful message to the world, as in their employment we find revolutionaries and terrorists, bent on undermining the lawful and respected society that is Rivana. The Aesanians are flowing closer to the bottom as the heroic Belkan forces defeat their unprovoked attacks on Belkan harbors. It was Aesanian agitators that have turned the once great nations of Clandonia and Atlantia against the ComFIAN alliance! We ask the world today to help with regards to security. We ask everyone to occupy the northern province of the AU, and reveal their true intentions. The intentions to spread lies, terror and death. Remember: all it takes for evil to triumph is for good men to do nothing. We ask of you to stand on the side of good, and destroy the forces of chaos taking strong root in Aesania.

Open letter from the Rivanan government to the Aesanian Union:

Because our previous call to the nations of this continent has been like ordering a brick to move upwards, we are stating this again - this time in a more obvious manner. It is nothing new that your country harbors deadly terrorists bent on destroying our precious country. Their operations from the northern Aesanian province have not been omitted by our intelligence staff. I can be sure that asking you to uproot the terrorist presence will not be heard and nothing will happen, therefore I demand for the borders to be opened, and allow Rivanan units to secure the northern province and uproot the terrorist presence ourselves. We are looking forward to your cooperation, especially in these rather dangerous times - as I am sure having enemies closing in from two directions wouldn't amuse you in the slightest.

The Aesanian Union has no involvement with terrorist organizations, and does not endorse any such organization. Your intelligence is wrong, as usual. The border remains closed, and tightly. Do not push the issue further.

With this, two more battalions of the Home Defense Corps have been moved to the border to assist in securing it. Elements of the 1st Armored and 2nd Infantry are already holding the area, but began to reinforce further. Air patrols are a common sight as well, with Typhoons from the Home Defense Force making routine patrols over the Aesanian side of the border. None passed through, however.

An organisation affiliated with Prokorov's criminal government is attacking us in our very homes! I find your answer unsettling and again push for deployment of a peacekeeping force into the northern province. Your continued funding and approval of these terrorists is proving quite a nuisance to this perfect state, even in this very moment when several lives have been threatened by an attack that I can only describe as a despicable act of terror. We are obliged by the world to eliminate this presence, regardless how it is contributing to your own devices.

Again, it would be very wise to comply to this request.

Two hours after sending this request, the army of North Pythogria has moved to the southern portion of the country, to secure a route to the Pythogrian capital. On encountering Belkan forces no shots have been exchanged. Further more, communications have been exchanged between the North Pythogrian army commander and his Belkan counterpart.

5 infantry divisions have been called to arms, and are moving in to reinforce the border defenses. Furthermore, a Rivanan tank division on the Aurorian-Rivanan border has been rallied, and is moving to the north Aesanian border this very moment.

As I have said, there are no terrorists in our northern province. Perhaps you should look inside your "perfect state" for once. It is not as perfect as you may think.

It would be unwise to push the issue further, and I highly suggest you pull your extra forces away from the border before we feel threatened.

Mrezov was watching his armoured division parade through the Red Square from the large balcony. His forces. He was the new Tsar. The Tsar of Rivana. The time has come to extend the Tsardom. Or has it? The Director of RKBN joined him at the balcony.

- "Comrade premier?"
- "Look Vladimir, look at this army marching before me. They are marching south, to face the capitalist foe. The battle that has always been going on in our minds has now reached reality. And it couldn't have come at a better time..."
- "Premier, everything is going as planned. Five troop divisions are languishing near the border, and seven more have been alerted and are forming up. We are waiting for the armour to completely secure the border."
- "And the new equipment?"
- "No worries, the amounts are sufficient. When it starts, the enemy should be very surprised when our tanks don't quite turn out to be what they expected.."


Meanwhile in the Pythogrian capital, a couple hundred metres underground..
- "Hurry up! Pack this too! Quickly!" - a commisar was shouting.
- "Load everything! Destroy everything that we cannot transport!"
Soldiers of all kinds were running around to the transport trucks, carrying documents, plans and equipment. Carts and small transport vehicles were taking out the machinery. The commisars radio clicked on.
- "This is Stregov. Report."
- "General, we need a few more hours and everything will be packed and ready to leave."
- "Good. Take everything." - Stregov put down the radio. This will boost the nuclear research considerably. The scientists need the data and equipment. Meanwhile an order has been delivered to Stregov's desk.

I suggest you rethink your attitude. You are in no position to make demands of the superpower of the northern hemisphere. Our patience grows thin with you. The border will be sealed, and that is final. If one Rivanan even attempts to cross the border, there will be all hell to pay for your people. I highly suggest you back down, for your own peoples' sake.

Strategic bombers began their patrols of the border, the B-52's and B-2's flying back and forth on the border of Rivanan airspace, waiting for the order to make a strike at the Rivanan nerve center in Lebada. Some were armed with incendiary weapons, others precision guided munitions.

At the same time the forces at the border were being replaced by decoys. Rivanan intelligence probably wouldn't tell the difference very easily, and even if they did they'd have no idea what was in planning.

The plan was simple, really: Let them in if they tried to break down the door. Have them meet as little resistance as possible. And let them come far into the blanket which was Stonehenge, where, when the time was right, forces would move around and cut them off from behind, and air cover would pound them from above as Aesanian ground forces moved in on them, cornering them. Tank charges from the west were all but useless, with only a small corridor of grasslands in the very northeast allowing for massive armored movement. The Aesanian Mountains provide an excellent natural barrier, running along the border and ending near where the border with Rivana began.

The Aesanian Union was ready... The stage was set for the war in the north...

Comrade Chairman....the rivananans are prepairing for a conflict with the AU, and there is a massive troop movement to the southern border.

I belive Comrade Pokorov may still have a chance at governing rivana, because mreznov is forgetting one thing colonel: that in a battle you must always watch your flanks!!!!!!!

This statement was followed by a burst of maniacal laughter.

Secret Message to the Aesanian Intelligence and military community, and Pokorov resistance forces:

As you very well know, we all share one thing in common; A common enemy...Mrezhnov. Do to Rivana's diversion of a certain number of forces to his southern border with AU, and the Lumiaran/AU border, we have come to see that this would be the prime opportunity for an attack on the Mrezhnov regime.

Our intelligence sources have reason to believe that there are a number of Pokorov loyalists remaining in Rivana and this could be used to our advantage by means of leaflet drops and propaganda.

Propylos has also been improving our missile technology with astounding results, and with proper reconaisance (with Aesanian Satellites perhaps) we could commence a missile barage upon Rivana like non seen before. We have 5 Lokatos submarines patroling the seas on the eastern rivanan coast, which are all equiped with a single IRBM missile (2 napalm tipped, 1 coventionally tipped, and 2 magnesium tipped). A well coordinated strike upon the Rivanan capitol with IRBM's could possibly kill Mrezhnov and certain members of Rivanan high command.

Propylos is not normally a war going country and, since we are innexperienced, we are seeking your advice on the matter.

Although we are all about the liberation of our motherland from the hands of the fascists, we will not stand by this meaningless destruction of our glorious capital. Lebada is the cultural centre of the region, being hundreds of years old and housing millions of comrades. It is intolerable to unleash the kind of destruction missile bombardment provides on the walls of such an ancient city.

The Targon emplacements on the Lebadan Red Square are still a threat. There will be no actions undertaken in Lebada until these can be disabled. The Rivanan Resistance is due for contact soon and we should have some new data regarding the situation before the meeting in Patal, Aesania.

Secret message to AU and Pokorov resistance:

I appologize for my brutish demeanor, and understand that bombardment of the capitol would not be a good idea, and would not gain us any favour from the Rivanan citizens. The liberation must surely make us look like the riteous ones as gaining support within Rivana is a key factor. I have come to realize that the use of our advanced missile technology would not be smart during the liberation, as it would make us look like destroyers and not liberators. If we can, during the invasion, be helpful to the Rivanan citizens (by distributing food, supplies and a good deal of propaganda), we should be able to gain the trust of the people of Rivana which would loosen Mrezhnov's grip on his own people, hence giving us the uper hand.

May the People's Republic be restored as soon as possible
