Hey guys, as you may or may not know the excellent TV series Stargate SG-1 has been cancelled by the US based SCI-FI channel.

The exact reasons for cancellation are not clear, but SCI-FI say its not just because of a drop in ratings.

Anyway, a website made by fans of the series has been set up to help convince MGM/SCI-FI not to cancell this great show and at least make an 11th series.

If you, like me, enjoy this show and would like to see it carry on. Please visit the Save Stargate SG-1 website and help convince MGM/SCI-FI that there is still life in this series and that it deserves to carry on for at least one more series....

Thanks

KaRsKiN,

This whole thing makes no sense. SCI-FI still plans on continuing with Atlantis even with SG-1's cancelation. How do they plan on doing that?

I've seen SG-1 a few times, and it seems alright, but it really seems like the type of show that you have to get into before enjoying it.

I decided to steal Spencer's sig when I saw it. I heard about it a little while ago, and I dunno if I'm pissed or sad. A little both, really.

They better at least give them a good ending to the saga if they are going to end it... Hopefully something changes their minds. Unlikely, but there's always hope.

either way, once stargate is cancelled, there's nothing left to keep me watching sci-fi

but lets not let it get to that point. go to that save SG-1 site and send letters, emails, and faxes to sci-fi and mgm.

If you've never seen Babylon 5, that will easily satisfy your appetite for sci-fi.

It is a real bang-up shame that they're closing this series. But after 10 series, I imagine all the actors want to do something else...And besides, its ratings prolly aren't as good as they used to be. It would be nice for them to continue, in the same way it would have been nice for Babylon 5 to continue (despite the fact that by Series 5 it had worn a little thin...and the actors who play G'Kar and Franklin having died...).

Wait, why do I see Ben Browder (of Farscape fame) on that website's banner? WTF OMG!! *Goes to watch Stargate*
I didn't know he'd joined the team! All the more reason for me to watch this stuff!

What a pity. I didn't watch the show much, but I liked it when I did.
It's a shame that they canceled it.

But then again there won’t be any more with either of them now :/

I think Sci-Fi is playing a really bad card by killing SG-1. 2 million viewers worldwide tune in to watch it. They probably just want another shitty Roswell because they are into that crap

I hope Stargate gets the fuck out of Sci-fi and onto a good viewing station.

But also Stargate has lost its seriousness. When Browder came in it redempted some of its seriousness but now it just seems too jokey. This all stopped when Hammond left of course, it was like 'one or two jokes then we get down to business' the SG-1 team seems like intergalactic clown patrol now.

Note how they kill the series off at the climatic super race involvement? Same with Babylon 5 when they introduced the Drakh as the main bad guy. Seems like a curse to me..

Babylon 5 was never supposed to go on forever though. JMS even said it was like a novel, it was supposed to have a beginning and an end, the end being Sheridan's death. SG-1 still has a good two years left in it, at least.

It had been in the pipeline for a while, SG1 had slowed down after Atlantis. Its a shame indeed.

Anywho...

Yeah, RDA leaving the series was a pretty big bummer for me. I mean, no matter how good Browder is you just can't beat O'neill. :(

ya i miss RDA aswell. I realized last night when I saw the 10 hour time loop episode of SG-1 just how much It sucks he's gone. Just not the same...

Still, SG-1 still has some gas in the tank, it should continue.

Noooooo of course not, basically Jack and Teal'c were stuck in a timeloop, forced to relive the same day over and over again (having to convince the people at base they were healthy then figure out how to stop the loop). Eventually they decide to fuck it and do their own things, such as playing golf in the Gate room, ride a bike throughout the military base, resign (and kiss Carter), learn how to juggle, learn how to make pottery during military hours  That episode was soo funny.
