it was about Shinji coming to love himself instead of hainge himself, it was him REJECTING the instrumentality project which occured in the movie.
it's deep whether you like it or not.
Gundam Seed storyline is just refurbished crap which we've seen in just about every gundam show.

Gundam Seed is the first gundam show (and one of the only anime shows that I've watched) that addresses some moral issues.
and there in lies the problem.
go watch Cowboy Bebop, Samurai Champloo, Code Geass, Ghost In The Shell Stand Alone Complex (+2nd GiG), Hellsing Ultimate OVA's, Death Note, Full Metal Alchemist, The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya, and Macross Plus.
Also if you want to watch a GOOD gundam, watch Zeta Gundam and Char's Counterattack.
and it never really adressed the moral issue, it was basically "how do we start another war without completely ripping off the original gundam? oh I know! cliche genetically enhanced super humans fighting normal ones! that's never been done before!"
It never addressed it, it never even made a real ending to it.
both have a war and draw, both have a second one and draw.
in the movie there will probably be another war, but in the last few seconds Kira will ultimate wtf pwn spam attack and destroy the known universe.

Anyway i liked seed because it did for me confront multiple moral issues especially of the futility of war and the truth in the fact that as long as humans exist there will always be conflict in this world, but also the chance to resolve it. Gundam paints a very real picture of what we ourselves are well on the way to becoming, and im not talking in the sence of genetic engineering (also another moral issue addressed, cloning mostly but we are comning into the technological age where GE is entirly plausable.) With the current world state we are heading towards wars on a global scale, between religions, hell the war on terrorism is already a world war of sorts, its just a quieter one.
Now its time to poke holes at Darkspleen, ok you may not have liked Eva personaly but if you didnt like it then you more then likely didnt watch it more then twice which you really need to to understand the complexity of the story and depth behind it. Your actions of watching it were based on the mecha action and yea mine were at first until i grasped the concepts of what was happening behind the battles. Evangelion is kind of more Psychological series that delves into the human syche and alot of philisophical and religious subjects.
You wont enjoy it as much if your not into that sort of thing.

P.S. One of the moral issues I liked that Seed addressed was racism.

you said the last episode had nothing to do with the series.
it had EVERYTHING to do with the series, it's Shinji refusing the instrumentality project and learning to love himself, over the entire series Shinji has hated himself constantly.
it's about him learning to love himself and strive to be an individual, to be himself, to not care about what others think.

I'm not saying gundam was better, gundam had the same if not more un-actiony bs.so you didn't like it cause the characters were deep and actually good compared ot gundam, the story was deep and not the same old reused shit they use in gundam, and the fights were short but put together very very well.
Asuka taking on the Eva Series > all other mech fights.

When I said "one of the only anime shows that I've watched" I was including Code Geass, Full Metal Alchemist, and Stand Alone Complex. It not like I said 'Gundam Seed is the only anime show to ever address any moral issues. And it wasn't really about "genetically enhanced super humans fighting normal ones!" It was about different groups of people fighting because one group of people thought they were superior to another. Hmmm. What does this sound like? It reminds me of the time that slavery was legal in the U.S. Why? Because the slave owners thought they were superior to the Africans.
Personally I think they should've made NGE 50 episode long, then they could have explained it better. Especially the ending. Because that last episode kinda jumped out of know where. (Or was I supposed to watch the movie before the last episode, because that seems to be more logical)
