Sony (or was it MS, can't remember) and Nintendo have refused to allow it to be released on their consoles because it is AO.

Realistically it's not because of the game, it's because of Rockstars history of violent games and masses of complaints.
Shame people can't just get over it.

Ha Ha! Omg this reminds me of when the first GTA was released. That was banned due to its "content" but that made the game take off and spawned a new generation of gaming...

It's quite pathetic that people are getting soo P.C . over games and peoples "past" history.

I expect it'll be released quietly sometime in the future like MK was. It's ridiculous that movies exist with content equal or worse in taste than any videogame and yet they're not banned.

No doubt they'll appeal and it'll be overruled. I love how the onus is put on publishers and developers to "OHMYGOD PLEASE THINK OF THE CHILDREN!!!!". Maybe if PARENTS weren't so fucking moronic, pig-ignorant and actually bothered to LOOK at the game box, p'raps those hypocrite parents who blame a GAME for their kid getting dead (let's not forget the VICTIM possessed Manhunt, NOT the killer!) might actually get a clue. I sympathise with the kid getting dead, but hey, let's blame the videogame.

I don't see why it shouldn't be allowed to be sold in a UK shop. That's basically doing the retailers out of cash. I wouldn't mind, but I've actually been IDed in Gamestation before when I came to buy the Silent Hill collection!

Rockstar have done nothing wrong. The retailers have done nothing wrong. The only people in the wrong are the censors and the parents here. If the console companies want to lose out on third-party royalties for allowing the game to be played on their console...that's their business. All three can go swivel. I am rather tempted to buy it from Play.com just to sell it on to people that want it!

No, the retailers do wrong constantly.
It is so easy to walk into a shop and buy a game you're underage for, back in the day (I'm 19 now so it's hardly applicapable) you could walk in and buy whatever you like uncontested.
It's worse than it is with booze/fags/films.

Nintendo and Sony haven't specifically banned Manhunt 2, they both have policies prohibiting Adult Only rated games from being released on their systems, and they're tied by these policies.

i agree with paradox, it is the parents fault for buying it. if it clearly has an "18" sticker on it, surely, somewhere in thier brains they must realise, what, hang on a second, my kids not 18, should i buy this?
if they have the brainpower to turn it around, it will say "contains strong sadistic violence". if they choose to ignore this and buy if for they 13 year old, whos to blame? not the kid, because he just wants to play the game and is easily manipulated by advertising, and its the parents job to control the amount of time he spends playing it.
its the parents fault. if they dont want thier kid exposed to violence, they shouldnt buy it. however, shielding children from these issues in the world such as violence, drugs, just makes the situation worse.

also paradox, the Victim did not posses manhunt. i remeber reading it in the papers. when the victim was brutally murdered (stabed 60 times and hit over the head with a hammer) this was when the serious issue of game violence was raised.
what happened was the Killer and the Victim were friends, and when the killer was around the victims house, he brought manhunt over. the victims parents didnt allow thier son to have violent games. and the killer was actually mentally addicted to manhunt and he would leave the house, so the victims dad literally had to throw him out. then after, the killer lured the victim to the park and killed him in a manhunt stlye.

they cant ban it because it contains lots of violence, because its an 18, which means they hope people 18 and older have common sense to realise its a game and thier old enough to see plenty of gore. if they do ban it, it will only be un banned shortly.

i think they may tone the violence down a bit, but i dont think they will ban it.
it was the same with The punisher game, had over the top violence, where you could put people in car crushers, and in plane engines and wood chippers, and you could see it in full view, so they had to tone it down and do the small clip of killing someone in an special interrogation in black and white and remove some of the gore, but it still is bloody, as you can see the aftermath of it

does any one remember that case where some mother tried to sue rockstar because in San Andreas there was a sex minigame? and the kid (like 13) was doing the sex minigame, and they mother saw and tried to sue rockstar for "inappropriate material in a game" and she tried to get it banned.
of course she didnt win, the stupid bint, because the game was an 18. and it was her fault for buying an 18, when her kid was 13. thats why games have large age labels with age ratings on them, so its not the game producers fault if anything like this happens. so with a 18 age rating, game producers can put what ever the fuck they like in the game, until some person complains about it >.<

My Wii's chipped, I'll have it when there's a leak of the fully uncut press copy. But really, just a giant sticker stating 'NOT FOR UNDER THOSE UNDER THE AGE OF EIGHTEEN' on the box and possibly fining of any clerks who do not check would be fine. The banning really s ridiculous when shit like Hostel and Saw are fine for the market (and in America, only rated R (for 17 year olds) I believe.).

Legally they shouldn't be able to ban something which is intended for a Mature Release anyway!

And if they can't sell it in the shops, they can still sell it online! So we're covered.

Errm, It is completely banned in the UK, So i take it there are no ways to get it from a Online UK shop.. As it wont be released here. The Nintendo Wii's are Region coded.. Not allowing us to buy it from a country like US or such..

Update on my earlier point.
Sony, Nintendo and Microsoft all have the no AO games policy rather than the two I specified earlier in the thread. And it applies to America only, seen as though we don't have an AO rating and just have 18 followed by refusal of classification.

Logically it'll still come out on PC in America if Rockstar want it to.

There are other Pal covered areas, some places in the EU, and New Zealand, if it comes out there we can get it!

Scandanvia has no ban and will have the uncut version. You could legally import it from there within the UK (Illegal to sell in stores, legal to own I believe).

I got an experienced installer to install mine. So all went perfectly and it happily runs anything I throw at it.
