First off, WAY-TO-GO! Great mod, very nice to see some serious looking, more canonical (is that a word?) ships in this mod!

My suggestion for Skirmish mode is real simple, though I dunno if it can be done w/o source codes. :(

Could you make Skirmish mode, for space, like "Combat Mission"? If you haven't played that one it's simple to explain, each player gets a set amount of money/credits, makes all their purchases before the battle begins (without knowing what their enemy bought), then the fight begins and forces are deployed. For EaW I guess you'd just select one of the things you bought to be the lead ship out of hyperspace and your re-enforcement pool would consist of the rest. The amount of credits each side gets would be set by the host. We might actually see an SSD in skirmish this way too. Like CM, the list to buy from could include everything from that faction, with different upgrades simply costing different amounts (heroes and their particular upgrades could work the same way). Well, wishful thinking anyways.

Oh, and just curious, is it possible to have a larger less cluttered map for space skirmishes? It's probably just my grand ineptitude at starship command, but I actually got an SSD 'stuck' in one of the maps trying to turn the darn thing around. It pierced the border of the map and with no reverse got completely wedged in lol! Luckily it's fighter compliment finished the fight with the enemy's starbase. It was in campaign mode of course, but I think the skirmish maps are the same anyways.

One last question, how do you upgrade Thrawn to the Razor's Kiss? Or is that for version 1.1? Gotta try the best (hopefully) SSD.

Thanks and yes, that is actually a word (I didn't make it up).

It's interesting. You actually see some hints of something like this in the XMLs, but it seems like they cut it or decided to go another direction. So it's not really possible for me.

jdk is working on that for Campaign, but I haven't decided what to do with Skirmish yet. The problem is, if you make a change to any of those maps, they disappear from the "official" list and show up on the "custom" list, which is confusing. So for now, I'm just opting to do nothing, but I think I'll have to convert them all over at some point.

That upgrade didn't make it. It should be in the next version.

The closest thing you can get to a combat mission style of skirmish:

Edit the skirmish bases, transports and mines to comment out (disable) the income stream.
Set the initial starting credits to a very high value.
Wait until both sides had declared 'I'm done building my ships' before moving a fighter or placing a ship.

Naturally both players would need the same edited files. And of course, it'd be a good idea to back the original files up first so you could return to normal play afterwards by restoring them. This isn't exactly something that could be in the official mod (wouldn't work with the AI, to begin with). But nothing is stopping a private player from altering his copy.

The problem is, if you make a change to any of those maps, they disappear from the "official" list and show up on the "custom" list, which is confusing.

I think it's still the best option. I don't see it as a concession. I see it as an added value bonus hehe. "Included: 20ish excellent new revamped skirmish maps, specifically designed to work best with the PR mod for your playing enjoyment. Just look in custom maps".

if you do that put PR in the title so we know which ones are from the mod.

You could do this, yes, but you would indeed lose regular Skirmish. It would be possible to also set all the build times to 0, however, I have not yet found where it is possible to set starting credits for Skirmish.

Good point. Or I may just name them something like "EaW_Alderaan" so you know it's really a vanilla map.
