So, hopefully you've all heard about the Forced Death System that Darkskul and I have instituted (kudos to Pasty for the idea - thanks mate :D). The basic idea is that in order to help build the danger and high-casualty feel of the situation, we will, in situations of danger, arbitrarily decide whether certain characters will die.
We do this by rolling five dice for each character which is in danger. The results of the rolls are added up, and the higher the total, the better for you (we changed that part around). Basic rules are as follows:
1) New players are given a "grace period" in which they will not be killed. It won't be that long (Lenny and Kelvin's have already worn off :rolleyes:)
2) All players get certain 'modifiers', i.e. plus' or minus' to your roll depending on how good he/she is at fighting zombies. For example, a wounded player would have a -1 or 2 in a combat situation.

OK, so, here are the numbers that you need:
5-9 = Death
10-17 = Injury
18-30 = Survival

And here, this is the interesting part, here is the list of characters and their modifiers:

Dean: +1 for veterancy
Carl: +1 for veterancy
Helena: +0
Jimmy King: +0
'Lancer' Jenkins: +1 for Military Training
Lenny: +0
'Silva' Robertson: +1 for being insane
Gary Angelos: ...well, 'nuff said about him ;)
Kevin Kaltesh: +1 for veterancy
Jamie Beal: -1 for being a weed (Pasty says so)
Jeff Baker: +0
Johnny Darkman: +3 for being a veteran zombie-hunter
Titus Atley: +3, ditto
Ryn Necavero: ...nuff' said about him too
John Doe: +3 for Military Training and being a vet
Stenton White: +0
Jaden Green(?): +0
Gabriel Llopiz(?): +0
Jimmy Dean: +2 for veterancy
Augustus Livingstone: +0
Joe Johnson: +1 for being a psychopath

Bear in mind, these are provisional and subject to change.

EDIT: Oh, and I forgot to mention, this is also as of now the official thread where you should post if you object to having your character possibly hurt. Hopefully no-one does, but here is an opt-out, if you really must. If you don't post we'll assume you don't mind :)

lol, yeah, your so mean to your person pasti, i said that my guy is skinny and stuff, but i guess he has a hamster to even that out(lol, a plus +1 for having a hamster to even out his -1 for being fit and not very athletic...)

I just hunkering to write a gory death, but i don't want it to happen out of the blue, so yeah, i've already got my next character planned (weedy doctor type)

How about 3 turns / days aftre roll taken, allowing you to set up a good death?
Just throwing the idea out there, havn't thought through pros+cons, what do you think?

Just a question about the system: Have we considered adding in wpn/medical supply modifiers? i.e. someone with only a combat knife won't fare as well as someone with, oh, say, a detached helicopter-minigun which has been retromounted onto a VW Bus. (idea is copyright, thanks to the GMs bringing us to a military base :p)

Or, someone without a giant medpack won't be as important to the group as one with the giant medpack. You lose a guy that isn't carrying anything important, it sucks cuz you just lost a guy. You lose the guy with all your supplies, it sucks cuz you're screwed-over bigtime until you can find more.

Well, we haven't thought of that specifically, but the general idea was that the modifiers would fluctuate readily depending on the situation. For example, earlier today I didn't afford Silva his usual +1 as he was completely on his own, which I figure balances that out. :)
