You could, you know, spend thirty dollars on a good RTS instead of paying monthly, and then once you learn all the intricacies, and know just how strong unit x is and how fast unit y is and what damage type is dealt by unit z, you don't ever need to buy any more games.

Warcraft (any)? Starcraft? Age of Empires? Medieval/Rome: Total War? Battle for Middle Earth?

Plenty of good RTS's out there.

Oh my god, you did not mention a single C&C game in that list...
You should be shot.

I've never played C&C, so I wouldn't know if they're any good.

Halo Wars? HALO WARS?!?!?!?!
I never took you for a plebeian Nowe :p Seriously man, there's better stuff out there. Try Company of Heroes, Dawn of War (1 or 2) or, my personal favourite, World In Conflict, which is awesome.
Of course I don't look busy; I did it right the first time.

Blasphemy! Halo Wars is stupid and for n00bx! How dare you say that? BfME and C&C are the ABSOLUTE best!? Halo Wars doesn't even compare!

And concerning RPG's, so long as it's not a Japanese-made RPG where your character has white or blue-colored spiky hair and a sword the size of a telephone pole, it's probably fine. Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is probably the best RPG of all time, though, followed closely by The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion.
I'm creeping, not gone.

Company of Heroes is the best RTS ever made. No argument, even the Westwood-made (both partially and fully by them.) games don't compare.

Hello everyone. I am back.

Coming from you, it must be spam.

Bullshit, you can't beat the classics, and fuck the WWII style.

I think Starcraft takes that cake

Dune II, Starcraft, C&C Tiberium Dawn, maybe Warcraft, etc.

Basically, the ones that made the genre what it is.

OK yeah, so you can't argue with a classic. This is an undeniable fact.
However, surely the games that came after have the classic game to build and improve upon? Thus, CoH is awesome
