Alliance: not decided.
Faction Technology: The Confederacy lives on the phrase, 'if it ain't broke, don't fix it'. Most weaponry are slugthrowers - the powerful, highly advanced matter-displacing artillery and battleship-borne heavy guns not yet broken down for use by the troops. Magnetically-accelerated railguns are the most popular choice of weapon for ship-to-ship conflict, as well as for the troops. Despite this highly-advanced array of military technology, the Confederacy is content to stay inside its' own sphere of influence, using traded-for, or more often, raided hyperdrives for intergalactic travel and conquest. Most Officers wield sabers and sidearms - the more classical the better.
Military Strength: Highly-trained, mobile, versatile military. Each man is in his position for a reason, recruited by vocation. All males are required to serve in the military until judged by their peers to be unfit for service - so they are a tight-knit group of true comrades and brothers-in-arms. As such, the Confederacy's Officers are, by and large, much more suited to the task than those of the past, and the foot-soldiers more courageous, determined, and altogether useful than their counterparts among other factions.
Military Weakness: The Confederacy's true weakness is that it cannot be everywhere at once. Setting out on campaign is difficult, as they are not numerous enough to leave men behind to 'hold down the fort' while others march to war. Combined with their comparative lack of true, reliable, modern hyperdrives, the Confederacy is hard-pressed to extend its' bounds too far out from home. Soldiers are also hard to produce to the quality expected of them; no twelve weeks' camp can match the experience gained in twelve years' education and rigorous training.
Government Style: The Confederacy is composed of a literal multitude of many factions, though day by day those lines are becoming less distinct and varied. Descended from many groups which joined together into one group and left Sol to find a new home, the Confederacy has many faces - white (powdered) and black (from mining soot), red (from the blood of the butcher) and olive (from a tan of any origin), and too many shades of brown to lay down in print. However, for ten years, a Leader, referred to as His Majesty, is placed in overall command of the militaristic Confederacy. This Leader (referred to as ' 'His' or 'Her' Majesty' 'as the situation requires) is not distinguished by race, age, sex (including preference), or any other generalized factor. Rather, each political party chooses their Leader, and sends him to fight for power - literally. Competitors are given a blunt club and forced to duke it out for the Right to Rule - after all, what Man can Rule a Confederacy who can not Rule his own fight? The last conscious - not standing, mind - is given the Right to Rule for the following decade, and things turn out as they will.
Social Flaws: The Confederacy, for all its' acceptance of character and qualities, is uncomfortable with outsiders. They have few allies outside their relatively small sphere of influence, but are, fortunately, not very antagonistic to anyone unless they cross them.
Redeeming Features: The Confederacy is a utopia of acceptance - they are willing to overlook any crime, discrimination, or personal flaws in a person and seek for the good. As a whole, they get along very well with anyone who manages to strike a conversation with them. They also staunch friends and allies when needed, not hesitating to take up for the underdog and help a friend to his feet.
Main Characters: Captain Sellers, Sergeant Major Jackson, and Commander Black. Adrien Veidt is the current Leader in power, but his reign is beginning to come to an end just when he is needed most.
Other Information: The Confederacy is human, but feels no real attachment to humanity as a whole unless necessary. Having left Sol hundreds of years ago, the Confederacy also feels no compassion for their long-begotten home. However, if needed, they will not hesitate to come to the aid of those who need it, and are considered by many as wildcards on the political battleground.
Character(s) Registration.
Character Name: Captain Hickory Remme (Ree-may) Sellers.
Character Age: Sellers is starting to wind down into middle-age by the reckoning of his people, but still retains a good bit of the vigour of the younger man inside of him. He is the equivalent of thirty-eight years of age to a citizen of Sol.
Character Gender: Male.
Character Profession: Sellers has risen through the ranks throughout his life, finally commanding his own ship as a Captain.
Character Appearance: Sellers is tall and sandy-haired, with skin tanned from the light of more suns than he cares to recall at one time.
Character History: Sellers was born into a small agricultural family, but managed to scrounge up enough money over time (not without help from his father, uncles, and mother) to gain admission to the Academy at age sixteen, where he was admitted to the Officer's Halls. Sellers performed admirably in his twelve years' education, and graduated with High Honour to the HMS Flags Flying. He served on the ship as the Navigation Officer for six years until Captain Picard was killed in a boarding action. Sellers happened to be the next-eldest Officer on the way up in the world, and so was promoted to the rank (and very good pay-grade) of Captain. He has since commanded his warship with quiet dignity, fighting off privateers and other less wholesome enemies, content to do things as he will.
Character Name: Sergeant Major Harley 'Stonewall' Jackson.
Character Age: Jackson is thirty-three years of age, and is at the peak of his athletic abilities and physical fitness.
Character Gender: Male.
Character Profession: Jackson is a professional soldier who leads by example; his talents and personality sending him into where he's needed most - a great leader but no desk job.
Character Appearance: Jackson is of middling height, and dark. He has olive skin and dark hair. He is very strong and broad, and carries an air similar to that of a bulldog.
Character History: Jackson was born into a middle-class family which had a history of professional soldiers. Jackson followed suite and was indicted into Boot at the normal age of sixteen. Over the years he has become an excellent soldier, well-respected by his men. Jackson has been stationed on the HMS Flags Flying for seven years now as the commanding officer of the Marine compliment on-board, and is well-versed in both the execution and repulsion of boarding parties, as well as hot landings and other things. Now he is chomping at the bit to put these skills to good use on a World of War.
Character Name: Left Wing Commander Ephraim Le Roy Black.
Character Age: Ephraim is in his late twenties, living in the prime of life.
Character Gender: Male.
Character Profession: Black is the Commander of the Left Wing, flying his Hellion-Class Individual Fighter-Bomber in all situations where his presence is required.
Character Appearance: Black is the descendant of Native Americans from Earth; he has raven-black hair, high cheekbones, a pudgy nose, and bronzed, well-toned skin. He is surprisingly fit for a flyboy, having an excellent natural metabolism.
Character History: Black was born on Hell to a low-class mining family. However, his gifts of perception and talent as a crack-shot earned him a spot in the local Military Recruiter's eye, and the young man was sent to the Academy at sixteen, the standard age for males living inside the bounds of the Confederacy. In a training accident Black managed to guide the flame-embroiled practice shuttle back to the ground, saving all ten Recruits and the two Attendants aboard with no injuries. He was swiftly promoted and on the fast-track to a good life in Command, but by some error in the administration he was instead sent to a hole-in-the-wall pirate-fighting vessel hailed as the HMS 'Flags Flying', where he is in command of a grand total three fellow pilots. However, soon the long-dormant talents of Black will be put to the test. Sooner than is comfortable, likelier than not...
Damn that was long.
