Ok, so:

I'll change the Faction names.

Instead of the Alliance, you'll have the Coalition.
The Republic will change to the Initiative
The Collective will be changed to the Federation
The Dominion will be changed to the League (No, no references to the Justice League here)
The Empire will be changed to the Kingdom

Firstly, why cant a shake the feeling of 'alternate reality versions' or evil twin type feeling that i get from the name change :shiftee2:
But i think now, you three leaders should come up with real names for each alliance, as the names i had were only temporary replacements because the names i had planned to use proved to... not be a good idea.

With three of you bouncing ideas off each other you should be able to coem up with some good non-generic names, right?

This can be the discussion on the alliance names, any comments/suggestions/whatever from anyone? post away.
(that is unless the leaders say they dont want to come up with proper names... in which case, i guess, dont post away?)

Right, let's set out what we've got so far. The Astrum and the Confederacy seem to be allies. Is this indeed the case? If so, why don't we give them a name to reflect their status as the pan-human assembly? In terms of everyone else, there doesn't seem to be anyone in these other alliances/coalitions/whatever yet, so I don't think we really need to name them. The Rakbi are out on their own, as are the Chalsidii, and the Caenophar are spread too far and wide to be part of a major galactic alliance, but maybe they'll settle in soon. The Cythelu Union sound like an alliance in their own right already, and they also seem to have several different species within their bounds. The way I see it, that gives us the Cythelu Union (CU) and the Astrum/Confederacy group. Come up with a decent name for them and you should be set.

EDIT: I forgot the Fonoss. Where do they fit in, Cas?

DUR EDIT: with the Cythelu, we're both in the Federation, so how about the Cythelu-Fonai Pact (CFP)?

The meanings of the types of names are pretty similar, but I didn't plan any "alternative realities".

We have the...

Cythelu-Fonai Coalition (CFC)
Chalsdii-Rakbi Union (CRU)
Hell-Astrum Confederacy (HAC)

We need more people.

EDIT: How about this.

We revamp the idea, and instead of set factions, we will have a few factions, made up of 2 factions already here. People will join these factions, but here's the catch; they won't be sub-factions, they'll be factions in themselves, just think of them as factions allying with them.

Sorry for late reply. I was quite busy in the past few days.
Cythelu/Fonoss Coalition seems nice since it reflects that each member doesn't have to change much in order to create this alliance.

Does this mean we're going to have only 2 sides of major powers with multi-species each?

Pretty much. Every faction will have some sort of Authority in the Alliances, but the two major powers will have the most.

Since both the Hell Confederacy and the Astrum Empire are desended from humans it reasons that we are located in or near the Orion Arm of the Galaxy then I think that we should be the Orion Confrence Treaty Alliance (OCTA).

Well the Astrum and Confederacy made a Coalition to work together in response to Ortan aggression. I'm sure that they would have stayed together up until the events of WoW^2.

I'd rather not have 'set' alliances etc and let them develop on their own.

I knew thats what you would say mike_ :shiftee2:

But I thought that I would intervine about what to call our alliance if they were going to insist about 'set' alliances.

what did you think of the name by the way?

Well, what about this?

You can make Alliances if you want, so maybe it'll be a huge free-for-all? Different Coalitions Vs. Different Alliances Vs. Independent Factions?

The Fonai and Rakbi are currently engaged in border clashes and hostilities. I have yet to post, but that is essentially what the Trader Trip topic is; our tensions. The Rakbi have not declared war but are actively sabotaging and sacking Fonai outposts, and the Fonai have declared war, as I understand, unless Casojin says differently. Cultural misunderstandings, and all.

It seems as this is going to be semi-freeform, with us all managing our own alliances and wars with each other, without a cohesive plot yet. Sounds good :shiftee2:

It's a war alright.
So Fonoss and Rakbi are at war now.

The problem with non-set alliances, as i mentioned while i was in charge, is that then most people will all join into one big alliance, and the concept as i had it was to not have the Rp'ers against a mod-controlled big enemy like the original Worlds of War, but that the conflict was more PvP.

But the solution suggested for this was to limit the number of people allowed in an alliance, which sorts this issue out fairly well.
So is that what will happen?

I say leave it up to the good judgment of the RP leaders to stop any one faction getting out of control. Don't put a standard limit on it, just wait and see how it pans out. By the way, Cas, I'm thinking the Chalsidii will probably run into a Fonoss outpost at some point when I'm done with all my coming essay deadlines, so you're in the clear for the next couple of weeks. :p Alternatively.... I have another plan which I do not wish to reveal. ;)

You could run into the Fonoss outpost while I'm sacking it, or I could sack it while you're investigating it. :p

The events in A Meeting in the Dark happen prior to the events of Trader Trip.

And then the Fonoss would have to search for whoever out there to help them. Hence a new alliance will be formed (with Cythelu if Dur is ok with it).
The plot seems nice enough.

I was thinking about the Cythelu Vs. the Chalsdii whilst you two were warring, so that it would come down to 3 or 2 alliances/Coalitions, the Confederates will either join one side or watch. Once the battle becomes heated, smaller independent factions might come in and join or just attack, if anyone registers.

The Confederacy will must likely watch unless convinced to do otherwise - ie, a few idiot cavemen (:p) attacking Hell, etc. Or the Astrum begging for assistance :p

They'll beg when the Order comes calling... ;) Of course, I think I'll go after the Chalsidii first, since Vort said that a mass conversion could work out with them. ;)

Don't get me wrong, we'll still fight you for all that we can, but if you attempt a diplomatic route we may be convinced otherwise. Or we may convince you otherwise, anyway. ;)
