In almost every MMO that I have chosen, I've always taken on the role of Cleric or Priest, basically the full support class.

In the time of about a few months (this happened around a year ago) I noticed an influx of rather rude and arrogant, as well as rash and irrational players. Most of the time they don't take their time, they're there to be better then you without thinking about friends, groups, or even other players. I hate these types of people, those who come up to someone (like me) filling the roles of a full support for my party in the middle of a massive AoE grind/quest fest, and say something along the lines of 'buff plx o I keel ju'. First off, if you have to say "Buff plx" in the first place, by no means should you even suggest that you could possibly kill me. I don't care who you are or what class you play. If you waste my time with such stupid praddle I will ignore you.

The same goes for people who tell me how to do my job even though they have never done it themselves. Like the fighters that say "Heal plz!" when they're not the tank thats grouping the aoe, cause they decided that intead of waiting on the tank to mob, they ran out and tried to fight on their own. I dont care, because if I stop healing the tank for the second it takes me to heal you, the tank dies, the aoe aggros the rest of the party, and it all falls appart. So no, I wont heal you! I will let you die, then ressurect you when I can.

Next, another thing that pisses me off in almost every single MMO out there, is the lack of constant vigilance by the GMs and Devs about bots. Bots are the #1 downfall of all online games. Take for instance Silkroad Online, overrulled and infested so bad that all of their 20+ servers (each server capable of having over 3000 players at any given time) are full 24/7 simply due to bots. I mean honestly, if you're going to let the game go to hell, this is the worst way to let it happen.

Continuing my rants (a bit long by now I know, but bear with me), are those games where you have to level your "skills/spells" by buying them from Shop X, for Y amount of money and Z amount of 'skill points'. These games are annoying, and a player without any skill at all can get the best ones in game. This peeves me a little less then the bot issue, but is also rather annoying, because every X amount of levels, I have to go back to town to buy Y skill, wasting most of my money on the skills instead of on what really matters (potions, food, etc).

Last and certainly not the least, are the n00bies. I'm not talking the newbies, who want to learn how to play well. I'm talking about the downright imbiciles, the players who can't do anything for themselves, those always asking for a "quick Plvl" or "money plz". These are probably worse then the people that ask for money, or the even the sad and horrible skill systems. This is what honestly irks me the most. High level characters that have basically done none of the work but have gotten 200% of the reward from other people. I'm not talking about the cleric classes, as in some game this is actually expected, but the fighters, mages and the like. Hell, I've even taken to leveling my own clerics with their dreadful attack spells several times, just for the fun of it rather then trying to find people to party with.

So all in all, this generation is the generation in which several good MMORPGs have fallen, and several more have been taken over by Bots and N00bs.

Let us hope Gatheryn is different.

Lux en Nox.

[Insert Applause here]

I've never tried an MMO, but I don't think I'd be able to cope. It sounds like grammatical purgatory... ;)

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.

I had the meaning of life in my signature, but it exceeded the character limit.

This has happened to WoW. I noticed all of those things in the 10 days I played it with my dad's guest pass. The other thing that turned me off was the slow leveling, I like leveling pretty quickly, without ruining the fun.

Hello everyone. I am back.

Talisman was fun as until I got to level 30 and my only option was to grind to level 32 (which is about 10 hours of playtime >.< ), I was a wizard (general offensive mage class) and nobody ever wanted me in the group unless I was a healer, or an assassin (which was about every 2nd person). there were so many people who would randomly not heal in battle to spam "SELLING PET FOOD 1G EACH!" in the world channell. I really want to get back into that game, I think I might go play it now, just for some fun.

Try diablo 2 :p
Many of those problems listed aren't a big issue there.

Its not fully 3D, but it is still a good game. Bots aren't really an issue at all (you do get spam bots that join the game, spam a chat message about some website, then leave, but other then that)

Sure there is the usual grinding and rushing (where a low level character is taken through the game only completing the bare minimum quests till they get to the final difficulty, where upon they do 'runs' which are just were you go through a certain level/area over and over that gives you good experience. This means that people like that get to a really high level alot faster then you, who is playing through it properly, but hey, who gives a crap about them? They join all the Hell difficulty games, so you back in the normal difficulty usually dont see them (unless they know the name of the specific game, such as if you ask your high level friend to help you) or even you like solitude you can just play single player, or make your own multiplayer game with a password.

On rare occasion you get some dick heads, who while you are in the middle of a game join with a super high level character, go hostile, and kill you for no reason. But i can only remember one time this had happened to me.

The closest to that 'i can has heal plx' is probably when people ask you for a buff. But there is no 'support only' type class in D2. All the characters that have supporting abilities are also strong fighters in their own right.
The paladin has auras that spread to the party when he is within range, giving them all sorts of buffs. A similar thing in the expansion where the druid summons a spirit that gives buffs, and the barbarians have these warcries that buff the group. They are usually what people ask for, But they are easy as all you do it switch to it, spam a few right clicks, then go back to fighting, as it spreads in a shockwave type effect, meaning they just have to be in range of it to gain the effect.

With the skills you simply kill enough enemies and you then gain experience to level up, which allows you, whenever you get a chance, to go and 'spend' you five stat points gained, and your 1 skill point. This can be done anyway, you just press the button to bring up your stat menu tab or skills menu tab.

And moneys only real use is at low levels buying overpriced items from the NPC's(which aren't anywhere near as good as the drops you can find, but are sometimes of a slightly higher level then what you are now at), repairing your items, and bringing your dead mercenary back to life.

Other then that, money doesn't really have any use at all.

Sure, diablo 2 isn't new, but it is indeed a good game, and if i weren't bored of it after my very ling time of playing it, i would... play it.
(Its really one of the only RPG's i have every played actually, so thats why i keep referencing it. I know its eventually gonna get on peoples nerves, but i cant help it ;) )

You say 'eventually' :thumbsupsmiley:
Let's put it this way: I can tell you're a fan of the Diablo series.

In other news I'd like to second IRS' applause. Good rant sir.
Of course I don't look busy; I did it right the first time.
