Where would I go to find out information of how to mod warcraft 3? I've heard of it, but never tried it myself. I'd like to give it a spin and see if I can't come up with something cool :thumbsupsmiley:

Hey Kwen! It's nice to see you around these sides of the boards, I'll have links up and ready and we will be creating our own modding guides for WC3 first, then we will add it for WoW then SC1. I'll post some links in this thread for you later on when I gather them all up.

Alright cool.

I'm somewhat adventurous lol, I'm inclined to venture from t3a from time to time.

Many modders use the World Editor included with Warcraft 3 to make their own custom campaigns and maps that could be classified as mods.

There's tons of downloadable packs on the internet, why should we use bandwidth on having them on our servers? =P

I'm thinking more along the lines of having some of them get hosting here for discussion of their projects...

segwayrulz is currently IceForge's PR leader. I considered doing some of the work, but then again, it's not my job.

I'm just the Community Manager ^.^ I manage the community, not create it xD

But i'm doing some of Seg's work by spreading the word around. Who knows, maybe it'll spread fast enough to get to some modders soon.

Well then Athos, get some modders here! :p I'm in the process of making my map better, I'll continue to update it and make my own, but tbh Kwen, it's seriously easy, I can't map in BFME for squat, but I found the WC3 editor so easy. You can make a map, edit skins, models everything is done through the world editor.

Yeah. BFME is painful. Can't wait to see the SC2 editor.

I recently started mucking around with Warcraft 3's world editor.
I've been working on a small private project for me and my friends to play.

So I might pop in from time to time to see what's happening and to read any tuts posted.

um. I don't think u can actually make a mod on Warcraft 3. By mod, I mean u can't add like new fraction. But u can make really fun maps using world editor. That is what i heard.

And I know the really basic stuff lol. Only spawning an item when barrel is destroyed, some really REALLY simple trigger, and making a dirt path and some cliffs and stuff yeah. lmao
Done with my mod: Go here to download: http://bfme2.heaveng....php?fileid=667

Yeah, you cant add new faction there, but base on your own creativity, you can add new heroes from the lore, and make new spells that are interesting and powerful using the editor :p

If you need to add new faction, i can suggest that(which im also doing the same thing):
Using those for original faction and convert them to your own creation faction such as:

For orc, you can make Fel-Orc and the peon can build new structures/buildings and units based on your liking... ;)

Welcome. I'm Athos, leader of IceForge (and this year's Grinch). Perhaps we can discuss hosting possibilities on IceForge...? :p

I think I'm gonna break down and grab WC3 finally. Any good deals around?

I have some mod plans, but it's more of a personal project than something that would be fun to play and share with everyone, at least at first. More of a way to bring my creativity into game form, without having to make my own RTS engine from scratch or something.

Is it possible to add more resources in a mod? Like, instead of just gold and wood, or whatever?
Greetings, community.
