I'll admit that Vort's post (and mine here) is heavily based on stereotyping.

How many teenieboppers watch manga available through late-night Cartoon Network, i.e. Naruto?
How many teenieboppers watch manga such as Samurai 7?

Samurai 7 was good manga, and I watched the last half of the miniseries when it was on G4. Naruto was queerbait manga, and had all the manga-ites of my school wearing the retarded headbands and thinking they were fucking ninjas.

If we can at least get the teenieboppers watching quality manga, the world will be a slightly better place.

No, my post was based on a strong dislike of manga. I am generally not particularly enamoured of Japanese culture and animation, which I guess sets me apart from 99% of the internet. Meh.

I have a person who's willing to lead an anime forum. He knows some stuff about anime, but not about RPG's really.

He suggested this plan of breaking anime up in the forum:

Anime/Manga:
Shounen Anime (Shounen = Young Boys. Usually battle/adventure stuff like Naruto, Bleach, One Piece)
Shoujo Anime (Shoujo = Young Girls. Anime aimed at girls. Dunno what the m/f split on your forum is like though. Would include stuff like Vampire Knight, Ouran High School Host Club)
Bishoujo Anime (Bishoujo = Cute girls. Aimed at boys, with cute girls in. Usually low on actual content. Examples are Love Hina, Aoi Yori Aoshi, Girls Bravo)
Seinen anime (Seinen = Young Man. Usually more story orientated and adult in nature than Shounen/Bishoujo. Examples are Detroit Metal City, Love Lucky, Futari Ecchi)
Josei anime (Josei = Women. Like seinen for girls. Aren't many anime of this type.)
Mecha anime (sort of a mix between Shounen and Seinen. Stuff with giant robots. Gundam, Evangelion, etc)
"Artistic" Anime (hard to define, but stuff like Miyazaki's movies that don't fit into anything above, and are well drawn).
A manga section.

What do you think about his idea?

I think we'd need to get a lot of members who were interested in manga RPs for that many subforums to be necessary or even useful. However, in FZM's absence, I suggest bringing this dude around here to have a look and a chat and see what he thinks.

I think the problem with Mirk's "advert" was that it sort of gave the impression that the "anime" section would be sort of an "all Revora" type anime section. If it were aimed at the entire userbase, maybe all those subforums would be necessary. If, however, from reading this topic, it's just something to draw people into ZoD, then mayhap not

Anyway, as for me, anime wise I mostly hang around Aquastar, whom I scanlate manga in High Quality for (Negima, when we can be bothered to release it ). As for getting people in, I doubt many of the people there would feel like it. Their modus operandi is more eroge (erotic videogames) than online RPG

On the other hand, a lot of the Narutards (yes, most people who have an interest in Japan beyond ninjas hate them too ) would probably go straight for it. I'd suggest putting an ad somewhere on NarutoFan (or whatever it's called these days). If the kids there are gullible enough to sign up to a site they have to pay to download manga and anime when they can read it all over the place online for free, then getting them here should be no problem

So sorry for giving you the wrong idea. It's a much smaller scale than what you thought, just the ZoD section.
