Commandos remake?

I wanted to open the discussion to see some insight, advice, other ideas from the community, and see if there is an interest.
It's difficult to write tools for the old games, decode file formats, import new data etc.
Maybe it would be a good idea to create a "remake" of commandos BEL or 2, using a modern engine such as Unity3D?
They have a free license, world editor, easy to import assets (3D objects, characters, vehicles...) and the necessary game scripts can be made in C#, Boo (python) and Javascript. There is also a very good documentation, lots of tutorials and examples and a large community to answer questions when needed.
Making a new game is difficult and takes a long time, but the file structure would be more open and so production of custom content (maps, objects, missions) would be faster and easier, so in the long run it can be worth it, especially if Eidos isn't interested in a new Commandos game.
What do you think?
