The ninth Starcraft II Beta Patch has been released. Read all about it here.

This appears to be the content patch we've been waiting for. Perhaps marking about the half way point of the beta?

The Starcraft II Editor has been released. Players can now use the editor to make their own custom maps. Map publishing is not yet available, but will be added in a later patch.

Achievements and Decals are also now available. Details on this will only be available to beta participants, but we do know players will be able to unlock portraits and unit decals when earning achievements.

And many more changes have been made to the game's menus and UI, and many new features have been added. Read all the details in the patch notes thread.

In the previous patch, concussive shells were made to require an upgrade before coming into effect. They were originally priced 100 minerals and 100 gas, with an 80 second timer, but that has been dropped to 50/50 and 60 seconds.

The Immortal build time has been increased from 40 to 55. The Immortal is a very powerful unit and this is probably a necessary nerf.

The Infested Terran's damage has been increased from 5 to 8, and it's speed decreased from 1.5 to 0.9375. This unit is summoned by the Zerg Infestor, but it is rarely used. Perhaps it will be seen more in battles, with a damage buff, but it does move a lot more slowly now. We'll have to wait to see how this plays out.

The Queen's speed off creep has been decreased from 1.5 to 0.938, almost identical numbers to the Infested Terran. This will cause even more need for those creep highways between bases, and will really restrict the queen to staying at the base.

The Spine Crawler's "attack period decreased from 1.6 to 1.85. " Now, 1.85 is higher than 1.6, this seems to be an increase. I believe this means the spine crawler will attack more slowly.

The Infestor's other abilities have also been altered. The Neural Parasite (AKA mind control) range has been increased from 7 to 9. So perhaps we will see more units being taken over by the Infestor. Also, the Fungal Growth's projectile has been removed, which means target units will be hit instantly, instead of having to wait for a projectile to travel from the Infestor to them (and perhaps allowing them to move out of the way.) Overall, the Infestor has been buffed.

We've also seen some major map changes. Some new maps have been introduced, while others have been removed in some areas. Read the details in the Patch Notes.
