Well we know how superior electro-magnetic tech is to the crap we use today, but (finally) National Geographic (someone) educates the public on how it could turn the world into chaos. It only worries about the US for some ungodly reason and features a physicist that looks like a stereotypical actor they hire as a physicist to explain it to you and a board room of random old people.
Good video since it's not a bad theory to a possibility.
A possible outcome?

Old news.
Just treat these threats like you treat nukes: watch your back against some country with large-scale EMP weapons, try your best to restrict countries from obtaining them them, and possibly fail. Granted these may very well be easier to make and much harder to monitor.
Or, of course, we wait many years until a freak solar flare comes and does this massive EMP for us.
