It's called the Revora Association, actually. There's a whole page on our main site dedicated to itIt's currently owned by the revora inc or co. I want to say its some kind of corporation or trust or something. It's considered a legal business entity.

Who started Revora? i never could find out who...
Actually, Revora is the merge of two older networks: Origin Network, which was led by Detail and CnC Guild, from Hybrid. Detail was the one who offered the merger. Mastermind, who was originally at Origin, came up with the server. But the answer to your question is Detail and not Mastermind.

@Mongoose: Origin-Network had a longer story as well. A site called Editing Source was once founded by Firestrm and few months later has joined a network that was well known back in 2002 called Federation Studios. It was once the 'roman empire' of C&C modifications, very popular. Apparently, there were some problems between Editing Source staff and Federation Studios after the ES founder abandoned it and Editing Source was kicked from that network. Surprisingly, about two months later, Federation Studios has collapsed. The staff were splitted into two editing sources. One from Detail, which became a modding network. The other from Vlad06, who brought it to his network called Armaggedon Studios. But that network is another story and Vlad's site eventually vanished with his network. Once Detail's Editing Source has grown, he decided to make a new network called Origin-Network and, one year later and he expanded beyond Command & Conquer modding with that... Origin merged with Revora. Revora hosted Editing Source on its early times, but eventually, the site was abandoned and the remaining staff brought it to another network (Freedom Studios).
It's funny that both Detail and Vlad considered that their networks were descendents of Federation Studios and, Detail also considered Revora as a new Federation Studios. I think these networks are entirelly different things, managed by different people.

Detail wanted his own 'Federation Studios' and he knew that, if he merged Origin with the Guild, he'd create the biggest C&C modding community in the internet history (which really happened, I have yet to see a C&C network that host mods is bigger than Revora... and no, ModDB does not count). The problem is choosing partners. It seems that Hybrid had different plans in mind for it.
Regarding the name, legends says that it's inspired in the expression 'revolving aura', where Detail wanted Revora to a sort of 'Sun', center of the community.
