So, now we know the title and general theme of the forthcoming live-action series. It's not grabbing me so far, but at least if it's all bounty-hunters-n-Hutts, there won't be too much you'll have to think about in terms of incorporating new canon.

I wonder if the Consortium will be more specifically canonized in this. I'm not sure if I want them to be or not, though...

I always figured FoC was just the dreams of a mad Tyber Zann in a padded cell.
As long as it's not ludicrously over the top like that though, I don't think I'd mind them appearing.

<DevXen> Today I was at the store and saw a Darth Vader action figure that said "Choking Hazard." It was great.

I just hope that Star Wars: Underworld doesn't continue the "disrespect existing canon at every turn" mentality of Star Wars: The Clone Wars.

Oh it will. Because it's his franchise and he'll cry if he wants to.

Underworld is the working title, which is like comparing Blue Harvest to RotJ. It's interesting, but I think I'll wait to make an assessment. If that remains the topic, then I'm glad we have our own campaigns to deal with the big issues and the two don't really tread on each other (possible exception if modern GCW units start creeping into the show earlier than they should).

Nice .

I don't think the timeline matches up.

I'm not sure I should even make this comparison, but a lot of GL's sound bites on this could be mistaken for describing Firefly...

A Firefly-like show set in Star Wars would be great, assuming they can actually pull it off. We all know there was plenty of smuggling and law-dodging going on during the GCW and prior, and I'd like to see more of that smelly underbelly and Average Joes trying get by and dodge Imperial patrols instead of The Adventures of the Skywalker-Solo Family. If the show is actually like Firefly, hopefully the Star Wars name draws in the viewer ratings necessary to keep it going.

As long as we're making hopeless comparisons, what if they replaced Mal with Lando and Serenity with the Falcon, then filled in the supporting cast with new characters? Put a young Lando in a serialized drama noir and I think I'd be able to forgive the whole Jar Jar thing.

And I'll be the cynic. It's probably not gonna be great. Is it just me, or has quality been dropping across the entire brand for years?
Then again, Modern Warfare 3 sells millions while games like Okami languish in obscurity, so who am I to say that quality is a measure of success?

Indeed, with the exception of a few things, like the prequel trilogy and some video games, I am not really that impressed with anything that has been created since 1999.
Modern Warfare 3 is the best Call of Duty game in a very long time, definitely superior to Modern Warfare 2 and Black Ops.

Games have gotten more labor-intensive, and thus expensive, since the advent of 3D. It's harder for publishers to bet on a novel design, so you see more repetition than in the '90s. Doesn't help that graphics sell games, but rarely make them.

See: The Force Unleashed, which got points for being set in the early GCW, then lost them all due to the ridiculous storyline. But it looked pretty! Post 1999, the Jedi Knight series were probably the best ones for decent plotting, or at least decent explanations for the ridiculous numbers of dark side users...

My hope for the live action franchise is based on the fact GL won't be writing the scripts. With some good writers with repect for the original trilogy it could be fantastic. Anything in a similar vein to Firefly would be superb. It would be good if it got down to the little man again and appearances of Jedi and the like VERY rare to return their mystery, wonder and reverence. It would also be good if the Empire were seen in a much more effective way rather than the bumbing fools who couldn't shoot straight.

The one specific thing I want to see in a motion Star Wars medium is a Base Delta Zero in full apocalyptic horror.

Er sorry about the post above.

Absolutely agree, perhaps as an end of season atrocity or something however I'd be happy with the idea of an omnipresent Empire, a feeling of their informants everywhere and a ruthless crackdown on people stepping out of line, or just give me the Star Wars version of Firefly.

Just don't let George Lucas loose with his CGI fest and directing by numbers.

Hopefully Lucas believes he has better things to do than direct a TV show. I don't want to see endless shot/reverse-shot scenes where everyone's sitting on a couch or staring off into a background scene.

If they're really planning 400 episodes on primetime network television (likely Fox), it'll kind of have to be good. Or at least good enough to sell commercials. (Please don't include a doctor/lawyer/cop character!)

I should also point out that 25 episodes/year works out to 16 seasons, which is pretty close to the actual time gap between III and IV, if they're thinking along those lines. This is all speculation though.

Interesting observation.

I just hope the whole thing isn't all bounty hunters...it isn't my favorite subject in Star Wars.

I still have some level of faith in Lucas, seeing that Red Tails was done by him personally as far as I've heard, and it looks/sounds like a pretty good movie (Then again, trailers tend to do that for you). I wouldn't be surprised if, since he seems to be tied up with Red Tails and Underworld, he's had lackeys making the important moves in all the new Clone Wars junk. Though, that decision isn't really a good one anyway.

Maybe I'm just a little overly optimistic, but aside from a few choice mistakes (Like Jar Jar and Jake Lloyd as Anakin), I don't really have any problems with the prequels.
