On the topic of Palin: She has done well in positioning herself, made herself an asset for a wing of the republican party that enjoys those kind of persons. Problem is that probably over 50% of the US scream inside their minds when they hear her speak. Makes it hard to get the independent vote, might even mobilize the democratic couch-voters. So she uses her VP-candidate fame to make ruckus and sell books. Those that hate her have made their case many times. Those that love her haven't heard those things and would probably ignore it anyway.

She's from the boondocks of Alaska, so most of you urban spewing individuals mock her since she does what any good country woman would do and make up words and say ridiculousness things. Gosh... I love that woman. The reason she isn't running is because she knows she wouldn't get elected because the ignorance is still thicker than stone in this country, and apparently anywhere else in the world. I strongly urge people to stop the idiotic excuses that besiege this woman's name and actually pay attention. She's what this country needs, honestly.

People do discriminate when they pick presidents, and having an education seems to be one of the big ones. It might be even clearer now after Bush was president.

Only because a lot of people agree with what she says doesn't mean she's smart. Or that her opinions are reasonable.
Exactly. Less intelligent people are easily swayed by passionate people. Even when real facts are nowhere to be found.
P.S. Who are you talking about despising The U.S? Because that post seems to be pointed at duke_Qa, yet he's never said anything to that effect.

@Ganon Do you think that everyone who is conservative is dumb? Conservatives deal in facts, not bleeding heart liberal ideologies. Get your left and right straight.
And off the record, duke is my friend but we believe in two different directions. That's why he's my counter person at GNP. He spends lots of time finding fault with the US and conservatives so I'm calling him out on that fact. We agree to disagree.

Conservatives deal in facts
I'm going to go ahead and call bullshit. Why do the continue to deny evolution exists and climate change then? Why do they continue to champion trickle down when it has never worked? Why did Palin stand by her statement that Revere was warning the British? Then there is the circus that is this year's Republican Primary. There's Mitt "I'm going back against everything I did as governor because the people demand I go far right" Romney, Newt "I'm going to impeach a president for an affair while I'm doing the same exact thing" Gingrich, Rick "I voted for contraception but now it 'causes more abortions' so I'm against that" Santorum, and Ron Paul, who I can at least respect for standing by his ideals. There was also Huntsman, but unfortunately he didn't get any support. I particularly liked when he called Romney out on rhetoric that was dividing America.
Liberals may play in ideology, but don't pretend like conservatives are any better.

True, I don't believe in what she says. I also don't believe she's very intelligent or educated and I have yet to see any credible arguments from you that she is. People supporting her is not a good argument for her intelligence.@phil She is smart, you just don't believe in what she says. Hence my last post about ideologies.
Not all conservatives are dumb, but most dumb people are conservative. People naturally believe in what has always been there, what they already know. That gives us a tendency to support the status quo against changes. But tradition is a bad source of legitimacy (which is the basic premise of conservatism). It takes an intellectual effort to see the problems in tradition and be progressive instead.

The problem is that they don't keep their mouth shut after its been pointed out either. They don't care about how wrong it is. it gets them votes if they sell these falsities, so they sell them. And that is a very, very dangerous path to start walking down. The path of emotion and falsehoods, very closely related to religion. And pretty much what fascism, nazism and communism ran on back in the last century. Simple, insane answers that plays to our inner demons.
Whom YOU despise, you call foolish. Anyone on that level is not a fool despise the fact we may disagree with thier ideologies.
I admit I have very little faith in the fox-news/tea-party group of conservatives that have become the voice of the republican party. Despise is a strong word, fear is a better one. I fear they will bring destruction upon the world with simple but faulty solutions that ignore facts and embrace insanity. I don't really care what they do about abortion and gay marriage and whatnot. These things might be state intervention(hypocritical for republicans that one) but they are irrelevant for the global economy.
I fear their attitude to taxation; to supressing government; to ignoring the threat of corporations; and allowing the defence industry to suck larger and larger parts of the budget into (overpriced)weapons and (incompetently run with massive corruption)wars.
If they were for at least one or two of them, the west might have a chance at maintaining its position in the world. But if nothing happens, those things will accumulate and the economy of the US and the west will wither under that imbalanced budget.

Indeed, tradition is a stupid place to look for modern day answers. The playing field is not the same today as it used to be a hundred or fifty years ago.

@fairylord I believe in evolution, I believe climate change is a natural cycle, I'm conservative. Trickle down economics are proven to work, check the boom of the late 80's. Ask Palin herself when quoting her. And the republican circus is occurring in your head and the mindlessness you watch on TV OBVIOUSLY biased in favor of YOU the viewer (at least liberal crybabies)True, I don't believe in what she says. Romney needs to go more right, Newt needs to keep his pants and mouth shut, and finally I love Rick Santorum. I'll fight this fight till you run out of finger typing power.
@Phil I wish I was smart enough to get on tv and write books that shake up the left like she has. Talk about smart.

Check how real wages fell. Don't forget that's when we turned from a creditor nation to a debtor one.

I can't believe I honestly had to do this. This is pretty well-known, I don't see how you can debate it.
And the republican circus is occurring in your head and the mindless nes you watch on TV OBVIOUSLY biased in favor of YOU the viewer (at least liberal crybabies)
Heh. I don't even think I have to debate this point. It is a circus. Contraception and gay marriage are for some reason the main issues among them, instead of, you know, the economy and our foreign policy. The ridiculous amounts of mudslinging (though that is nothing new) combined with the sheer volume of money that is being thrown around is insane.
Romney needs to go more right, Newt needs to keep his pants and mouth shut, and finally I love Rick Santorum.
To win the primary yes, but not for the general election. And certainly not for the good of America.
I agree.
Santorum. Oh man just Santorum. I don't even know where to start with this guy. You have heard what he had to say about JFK's speech, right?

Strange how humor seems to be the best political tool for change at times.

Yeah, Rick is an honorable man.[/sarcasm]
The Republican party is a party of hypocrisy. First of all, if conservatives are such big supporters of small government, then why is it so important that government should outlaw abortion?
I'll tell you why, Republicans look to the bible as a guide when governing. Instead of the Constitution, which they're sworn to uphold. Separation of church and state was a very deliberate, and farsighted move, indeed.
And how about gay marriage? "Oh, sanctity of marriage!"
It's government interventionism, and it's bullshit.
