Talk about a bad omen. Alabama’s crystal BCS Championship Trophy from last fall’s title team was shattered during Saturday’s A-Day scrimmage, reported Tide Nation.
The trophy, valued at $30,000, was reportedly knocked off its podium by a current player’s father, who tripped on a rug that sits at the bottom of the display. It was located at the Mal Moore Athletic Facility halls, which holds Nick Saban’s office. Alex Scarborough of ESPN Radio tweeted out a picture (above, inset) of a tiny piece of crystal, saying “here’s what’s left.”
This isn’t the first recent mishap involving college football trophies. Florida’s 2008 BCS trophy was broken by then-recruit Orson Charles and Missouri’s mascot, Truman, broke the Independence Bowl trophy in December.

Not the trophy! It's the only reason why these people play game ball! ... What sport is that? The trophy is shaped like a football, soooooo... maybe? Maybe not? Anyway... the guy who broke it would be my hero if he admitted it wasn't an accident.
