To be fair, it depends on what you grow up with. If you're an activistic person, you're going to stand up and be just as defiant against politicians' tax evasion or utter oppression, as it's an extreme cause compared to the rest of your life. If you're not, you just live and die with it.

I was joking. Tax evasion is nowhere near as terrible as the seeming collapse of Greece. It was a witty (if I dare say so) comment on how better off we are in Britain despite whining constantly.

It's always a thing, where countries with order see money as a bigger issue then social chaos, and countries just going nuts think the exact opposite.  Or not. It depends where you lean.
