Holy crap... it's like this season of 24... Al Harazi stole a military defense override that can control the United State's defense grid. Except this time, she's controlling Russia's defense grid to force Russia into war with the rest of Europe... hubba hubba.
But really, what does Russia gain from this exactly?
Hey, after watching every episode of 24, I don't trust anything about massive incidents like this. A single individual, to a small cell, to even a completely different world power could have been involved in this incident, and we may never even know about it.
We'll see what comes out of this, though it seems to imply that Russian covert ops aren't as competent as they think they are.
It is a minor miracle that its the air companies themselves who decide whether to fly over civil war zones or not. And on top of that civil war zones in areas known to shoot down both military planes and helicopters because they get big support from a super-power. Oh well. In the end, this whole situation is pretty messed up, so we'll just have to hope Putin is gone before 2020.

If nothing else, I'll never travel by Malaysian airlines again. First a missing airliner that could've been abducted by aliens for all we know and now this? No wonder their share price is on a collision course with the floor.
It sounds pure to me. I wouldn't mind a bit of action and danger on my flights. They're often very boring after liftoff.
I don't really understand why American news is so relaxed about the whole thing. I've heard a few mentions of the incident, but nothing really in depth or helpful. The Obama speech about it was actually really quite pointless and brief. One could even say rude. It was about a 40 second mention, cracked a joke, then went off on NYC fundraising. No Americans on board... so why bother? Sake... What an absolute scumbag... I am drawn into remembering Ronald Reagan's speech of a very similar incident in 1983, where he gives an incredibly amazing speech about Russian aggression with civilian airlines.
What a legend... Reagan was a man of means and worth. He had more knowledgeable acumen than our entire arsenal of modern politicians. If he was alive and not bat-crap insane today, he would make Americans care about incident like this. As they should.
