I noticed that the in game news feed has finally been updated and customised.

Perhaps it can be used to define the difference between the standardised, evolution of rule sets to aid those that are not familiar with them.  i.e. Noob Rules = 10 minute no rush, etc....

The in-game news feeds will be used for official announcements and updates etc. Feel free to explain these things in a thread here, though.

Please no! Many people start complaining that certain tactics and units are 'noob' or 'pro' with out understanding that a strategy game revolves around having many different ways to play.

I began enjoying cnc with no rush rules but I think players who are too scared to play from the start learn very slowly as the cost, build order and movement of units at the start are essential to know.

Conversely, then when you begin playing advanced games with seasoned players, many start whinging that you are camping and it is 'noob' rather than accepting that it is a game of strategy and not just speed.

The best way for beginners to learn is to explain that you may fight from the start but you have the choice to attack or defend.

these "rules" are ridiculous.

Quite the opposite, however.... I perhaps should have stated that I am referring to Zero Hour only as that's all I play.  This standard set of gameplay is common to the degree that 90% of games are played in either manner.  Pro is simply no rules, so gives the freedom of play, however, Aurora and Super Weapons are a still a no.  2 features that ruin the gameplay, hence why it's so standard.

Noob is the most common.  Before it was shutdown on gamespy, this is how most people have played for the last 10 years of which I have played throughout. It's not for noobs only, but is referred to as the rules?!

It's not me dictating anything, it's the evolution of the game and it's seasoned players.  The issue is that players who are not familiar, perhaps 1 out of 6 players in a game, are not aware of what the exact rule plays are (especially on GameRanger) and therefore there is a consistent process of repeating to everyone what they are.  It just gets tedious and would be helpful I thought as a simple note to help those who are new and unfamiliar.

You don't have to play with any rules at all, I agree, and that's not what I'm voicing, but the games that put this in the title, should be following a standard set. From so many years of play, it's a much better way of playing when everyone conforms to the simple fact of don't build Auroras, or 100 demo bikes.  Stupid things that just make people quit early.

Especially now that there's no ranking, the game play is so terrible I've had to stop playing until it comes back on.  Nobody cares, people are just quitting after 1 minute, or attacking their own team for fun, etc, that because you can just make a new account and have stats at 0/0 then who gives a sh**.  Most people aren't honest players like me.

Thank goodness the new GenTools fixed the previous GenTools where the whole world cheated as the game nearly fell to it's death there.  Players controlling other players army was ridiculous. Anyway, I just hope these guys from Revora can keep the game alive as it's very close to being dead in the water.

This probably explains why I get called a noob by noobs in RA3 for building Superweapons. Only pros are supposed to call noobs noobs for building Superweapons, as RA3's superweaps are underpowered and a bad play ( with exception of the Chronosphere in some circumstances and maybe the Iron Kurtain). Anyway, I got called an "sw noob" by this noob who I was taking it easy on.

At the very least, if you want to play by house rules then say so before the match and don't automatch (when it comes back) then call me a 'rusher noob' for using conventional harrass tactics.

It still ticks me off when an RA3 "pro"  phases his collector through solid matter and other sploits. (actually, drop the quotes, all the best players use this sploit even if they avoid other exploits like the early Command Centre deploy hack or dolphin vs land targets)

OLOLOLOL

Only noobs care about petty crap like this.

Nobody good in ZH cares about Aurora and SW's becuase games won't get to that point where they matter in the slightest.

I do not think that is the right place to announce user generated "match rules".

I can't recall that the "previous GenTool" (whatever that means) opened doors for cheaters. Do you have evidence for this?

There are only two kinds of rules:

1. Do not use game bugs only (Expert rules).

2. Any other rules (Noob rules).

Shame nobody replying here actually plays ZH otherwise they'd look like the clowns.  It's standard gameplay featured in the title of most hosted games.  Have a look for yourself before trolling like a know it all.

@xezon - I don't mean specifically the current iteration of gentool, but to the its predecessor often referred to as gentools, named "GenerGenX V2" for which is why our current Gentools was created because of the prolific cheating that nearly ruined the game.  It had "control hack" ffs which people literally controlled your gameplay.  I'm sure you know.

I don't understand what you try to say. GenTool is not GenerGenX.

Getting flamed hard right now because was in a 'pro rules' game and built 1 aurora.  I was getting rushed and it just came out.  They've been in the lobby trash talking me for 20 mins.  Didn't even effect the game.  They had rushed me right out of the gate and i had nothing anyways.  I honestly had no idea about auroras.

That rule is stupid though.  If I random a SW general, then that means I get nothing at all to show for it.

As none of you are probably know what noob rules is I will clarify. And for the record noob rules on the right map/ game type can make a gg and produce longer games which arent fixated on rushing bases.

  • No base rush 10
  • No SW
  • 3 Humvee
  • 2 Bus
  • No demo bike
  • No aurora
  • No demo up
  • No nuke mig

I think thats everything but inevitably I will have missed something. I cant remember if SWG is allowed SW or not, I think they are. But noob rules makes SWG especially challenging as you cant spam hums when limited to three.

Dude your clueless. Gentool has no affliation with GenerGen. And although GenerGen had the control hack option in it, it rarely worked and was a pile of crap and required so much attention that the person cheating would be at a disadvantage because they lose control of thier own army.

And Gentool actually damaged the community IMO, before gentool there was two types of player: Cheat and non-cheat. Now there may have been some people who abused maphack against non-cheaters, but actually there was a maphack community who only played twilight flame and hostile dawn and everyone in those games was using maphack so no-one was at a disadvantage. Gentool users would never join twilight flame or HD and maphackers would not join the gentool games as they would get kicked for not having gentool. But these days the maphackers are all gone and with it so has half the player base
