Ahoy, moops.  I had a great new idea for an art topic.  And this is it.  You give me a picture, and I'll make it better.  Simple as that.

can do. i tried out digital painting a few years ago, but failed horribly.

i uploaded my unfinished picture somewhere, gotta find it.

critical failure when attempting to draw hands, also the bottle looks like shit.

the alien was supposed to drive a car with obstacles flying around and passengers evasing.

 

also, the pupils don´t really fit and the whole thing fused with the black background on the left.

the only thing i like are the front teeth xD

 

not sure if this is salvageable but feel free to try

i probably should dig out the original and export a much larger version if you actually intend to edit it.

the canvas was pretty huge. but i have to find the hard disk.

 

btw i meant "pedestrians" not "passengers" but both sounds kinda funny

And... erm... I have no idea why I made this topic.  I think I wanted to try and recreate pictures by speed drawing them... I don't quite remember.  Or maybe it was some sort of sick joke.  I do really retarded stuff when I'm really tired.  Oh... sorry... mentally ill stuff.  Uhhhhhhhh... poop.  I really don't have time to do stuff like this.  Maybe I'll try something later tonight.

does anyone know good tutorials for painting transparent objects in photoshop?

It's not hard.  Just turn your alpha channel on, and your eraser tool will then create a checker-board pattern in the background.  If you then save your image as a .png, that checker-board pattern will show up as a transparent surface anywhere you view it.

umm ... yeah i know that concept.

 

i should have been more specific: my transparent object is the bottle and there should be transparent liquid pouring out of it.

the liquid doesnt look like wine, more like some viscous sirup. and the bottle is hardly more than a colored sketch with some lucency

 

objects in the bottle should be slightly deformed and stuff behind it even more.

 

i stumbled across some very useful tuts by stephany valentine to create a 3-dimensional look but didnt find anything about transparency, optical refraction and such

So you want your liquid to have some layered transparency?  Also easy.  Use your fuzzy select tool (or the Photoshop equivalent, or whatever you use) and select sections of the liquid.  Then with an alpha channel on, use your eraser tool with very low opacity and erase the sections detected by your fuzzy select tool.  The lighter the liquid, the more that needs to be transparent.  And you can do the same to the bottle... make the parts without the liquid very transparent in the center, and less so around the edges of the bottle.  This same rule should apply to the liquid as well, but not as heavy transparency.  And objects inside of it should have no transparency.

"fuzzy select tool" seems to be like magic wand in photoshop with a blurry border.

adding more transparency step-by-step, every time with a slightly larger selection seems like a good idea, i´ll try that.
