Two things. Firstly, you ought to be launching the game from Gentool and not the launcher. GenTool

However, I don't think that that is going to help you with this particular problem. I suggest you try this. I had a similar problem myself yesterday.

Hit and hold the Windows key and press R. Click OK to get a console. Type MSCONFIG.

That should bring up the System Configuration dialog. Go to the "Services" tag at the top of the dialog.

Check the "Hide all Microsoft Services" check box at the bottom left. Then look at the list of services that remain; You should see "Origin client services". Uncheck that.

Now restart your computer and retry. Go to the full post

  • Ultimate collection/ Origin version: 9.5.1.571 - 344944
  • Prior to latest Origin updated, we had the game working fine, but now logs ERROR: game.dat process not found when attempting to luanch
  • OS: Win7 on both systems

Thanks.  Un-checking "Origin client services" and restarting resolved the issue.  To clarify, I had previously performed all the steps in the installation requirements  including the Origin Ultimate Collection section.
