Hi,

I have the ultimate edition, through Origin. C&C Net can't find my Generals or ZH games, & Gameranger couldnt see ZH.

After installing the new launchers & gentool I can't run Generals ("File Corrupted...virus or cracked") or ZH (can't find installation) at all through Origin/Start Menu launchers, and C&C Net still can't find either installation.

Do I need to totally reinstall Origin or is there an easy fix?

Thanks for any help!

Looks like you need a complete reinstall.   When you've done that you need to reinstall the C&C Ultimate Collection Launchers. I suggest that you use only GenTool and not the C&C:Online launcher to play Generals or Zero Hour.

Uninstall BitDefender or similar Anti Virus. It is blocking GenTool for no reason.

Gain access to CNC Online servers by using GenTool for Generals and Zero Hour.

http://www.gentool.net/

"GenTool provides enhanced game controls and optimizations to maximize your online gaming experience. Additionally it comes with three anti cheat solutions for Generals and Zero Hour. The program is easy to install and is fully functional with C&C Generals 1.8, C&C Generals Zero Hour 1.04, Generals Deluxe Edition, The First Decade and The Ultimate Collection."

I uninstalled C&C G/ZH & Origin and reinstalled Origin, but upon re-downloading Generals, Origins start installing but then doesn't complete "An unexpected error has occured ...no. 327683". Any ideas?

Did you try that?    Otherwise, your question is one for Origin support, I'm afraid.   They should be much better able to answer that than we are.

I can't get Origin or the Launcher installer to find my Generals/ZH installation. I've edited the registry as suggested elsewhere but no luck. No change by Disabling Bit Defender, running as administrator, and changing the compatibility mode.

I've uninstalled & reinstalled Origin but that hasn't worked either (I can download but only keep installing, never play) - probably because there are lingering Origin/Generals files left over.

How can I completely remove all trace of Generals from my system, including any cache files? Then hopefully I can start absolutely from scratch by installing Origin once more...

Thanks, Tim

P.S. Bizarrely, Gameranger can see ZH now, but C&C Online can't

You shouldn't be using the Online Launcher at all. Use only Gentool (as I posted above). Try that, then report back please.

Ok I've installed Gentool. How do run it using Gentool?

The executables in the Generals/ZH folder don't work as they're linked to Origin.

If you've installed Gentool and the C&C Ultimate Collection Launchers, you should launch your game from the ordinary game shortcuts. You should also be able to launch from generals.exe in each of the two directories for Generals and Zero Hour. If not, you probably still have a problem with your installation or Origin.

Ok thanks - other than uninstalling origin, are there any other cache/registry files that need manually removing?

There may be a misunderstanding here. You'll need to have Origin installed (and the C&C Ultimate Collection Launchers applied) as well as Gentool but not the C&C:Online launcher.

Thanks. The ordinary shortcuts don't work, so I want to completely reinstall origin and c&c. Are there any additional cache/registry files that don't get removed during the uninstallation process that I need to manually delete?

How can I clear the decks and reinstall everything, remove origin cache, generals registry etc?

Just uninstall origin and generals/zero hour. Then reinstall both the programs. Once in origin disable the origin version of zero hour and launch the game through the desktop option. Make sure gentool is installed. Cnc online gets a little dead at night so you might want to try gameranger where there is alot more games up. The community seems alot bigger.
