Set all graphics to ultra high. The game will slow down considerably, especially if your machine cannot cope.

Sounds reasonable. And it is a model (old BfMe1 LD buff), not an FX. Eclipsing stuff was also my first thought. It happens on many unit models, on some only if they stand on a hill. Thx.
