So I've been officially asked to leave my school due to computer misuse, I am personally rather annoyed that they've decided I can't be trusted with PCs for playing games and looking at the 'my network places' through a remote desktop connection, whereas in year ten I received a broken jaw on school premises within ten foot of my tutor room - and the two culprits in question received a three day suspension only, effectively increasing their Christmas holiday and ruining mine.

So I'm not sat in my house looking on my local college websites to try and find an ICT related course - my only relief is that it was not an official expulsion so I can actually still use them as a reference as there is nothing on my school record relating to it.

Well at least I get an extra week off before x-mas and before I have to go job hunting until my course starts, since I'm down family credit, family allowance and £30 EMA a week now. What bloody fun today is.

They have a recording of me running winrar in order to get an emulator to start and that's about it for this time.
I also was made to write out exactly the steps I had to do to get .exe files running because out administrator seems unaware that IE writes files to the C for its temporary files.

Nothing worse than getting blamed for another's incompetence...

Good luck.

Aww that suck mate. Surely that cannot be cause enough to officially asked you to leave the school. Its not like you are causing damage to the network, hacking files, finding pron etc.

Stupid f**king schools. I used to use the computers for games all the time, and so did most of the kids in my year

ARGUMENT FROM CREATION, a.k.a. ARGUMENT FROM PERSONAL INCREDULITY (I)
(1) If evolution is false, then creationism is true, and therefore God exists.
(2) Evolution can't be true, since I lack the mental capacity to understand it; moreover, to accept its truth would cause me to be uncomfortable.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

It's potentially due to the fact in year 11 I installed UT over the network as well as playing around with the internet administration (Reactivated my own internet account) but I didn't do anything damaging - although I was defininitely in a position to at times.
It's not official as such - or I'd have police involvement to investigate potential 'criminal damage'...

Too bad for you, I don't know the entire situation, but being expelled is never good.

A friend of mine is receiving a one-day suspension because he hacked some school stuff... Which he only did to show the errors in the security (and there are a LOT of them!). Life is unfair.

that really sucks, dude. i know w kid who went into the folders in my high school and deleted almost everything, completely destroying the network. it took two weeks to get it working again, and thi kid punishement is surprising: two days of OSS (out of school suspension) and lost his computer priveleges for a week. i was blown away by how little he was punished.

ROFL, they expelled you for that? Jees we have Unreal on the network for the games club, all you do is open up visual basics, change the macro and you can play it! But someone found out now so we are playing other fun games, I don't really want to destroy my school network yet....

That realy sucks.. Cant you fight it, I mean getting expelled doesnt usually mean you cant do something about it. Surely theres some institute in your country that helps students to keep their rights. Really, fight it, let it go to court if it has to, its the admins incompetence, you can in fact win this..

Hello, as a good friend of Daeda above, who directed me to this post with the words he found me a soulmate. The same thing happened to me, unless it wasn't about playing games, but about vulns in the system, that could be exploited. I told the admin he should fix it, and they started bitching. But I'm fighting my suspension as well, and according to LAKS, which is like the national students union, I make a fairly good chance.

They're basing it purely on the fact I've been pulled in previously about doing things on the computers which I shouldn't - There's probably stuff I could do to fight it but in all honesty it could take such a long time that'd be worthless.

Phone up the media, write your MP. Say you were nearly put in hospital last year but this year you were expelled for using a computer.

<{POST_SNAPBACK}>

...WAS put in hospital.

Fact is if I do that, it'll make it official and due to the reputation of my school I doubt I'd get in many ICT courses if my main reference says 'Was expelled for being untrustworthy and abusing computer rights'

Of course the fact I wasn't officially expelled as such but they for all practical purposes forced me out and are therefore going to be claming that it was my own decision to leave would be against me.

Heh, even better in court.. they forced you, without offering alternatives.. Basically they didnt want you to have any education.. now if that isnt breaking some laws..
