Alright, alright. I'll try again.
Anyone want to work on a BFME2 MOBA expansion? Pasidon is a mapper and scripter, so that glaring hole of a position is already filled. I'll do required artwork, and we'll all be in charge of gameplay design (probably through Skype meetings). What we'd need is someone to set up the mod's framework, clean out factions, tweak values and such to get the groundwork compatible with the scripting so that our concept can be realized. The coding shouldn't be particularly difficult, but it might not be something you're used to (if at all possible, hence my use of the word 'concept'). The exact details of the code work aren't realized yet so that would get discussed still.

What exactly are you looking for?
Somewhat of a Ridder Clan Mod setup?
Or you want to keep the -Mod command? (Which does make Worldbuilder compatibility more difficult...)
Depending on what you want, I might have time to help you out, not at the moment though, swamped with my own mod when I have/take time to mod

I'd like it to be an 'expansion', like RC. It seems like a more impressive way of handling something like this, since the core gameplay is completely different and normal skirmishes would not be able to be played.
And sure. I'll make some time soon to rewrite and post some of our concepts so you can take a look and see what should be done through ini.
The project is a bit ambitious, but with Pasidon's dusted-off skills, a prototype should be possible at least. When done right, it could draw quite a crowd. Might be a fun 'community project', in the loosest sense of the word.

Well I can help set up the basics like I did with RC, that shouldn't be too much of a problem.
Sounds good, I'll wait and see where this goes, but I'll be around to help set up the extreme basics if needed

idk if this means anything, but once im finished with my mod, i'll start "learning" for exams but will find time for some modding. Also you will get the permission to use whatever you want from my mod, so yeah...
The idea seems nice, i always wanted MOBA styled BFME...

Imma contact you. I have done some pretty big legends style maps in the past working with RB (before he disappeared) and RG of course. i remember the basics and I always loved making special abilities

Splendid.
I am currently writing up a detailed gameplay concept document and release schedule. I will post a thread on that once I've finished. It'd be nice if some experienced eyes could take a look and tell me what is and isn't possible to accomplish (through code, scripting, or a combination thereof).

I've played a few moba maps, really cool. Good luck with the project

is this still alive?

Yes, it is, but I am not currently modding. Pasidon Elric and myself will continue this once the summer breaks hit. Or so I think. Pasidon?

Aye, I graduate High School in like a week, so, obviously that takes priority atm. After that though I will be a freebird!

Cools. Once you get the modded game to run custom maps, I can get back to work as well.
Posted 26 May 2015 - 08:43 AM
Custom maps shouldn't be hard... you can place them in your my bfme (whatever the hell) files and they should work and get added automatically

Welp we have a problem. I leave on June 18th for the entire summer with nothing but my Macbook Pro. I COULD dual-boot but it slows my mac down a lot for work. I graduate on the 6th so any MAJOR MAJOR work that needs doing coding wise I will do in that 12 day span. Get ready to work!

However, if another coder could POTENTIALLY come into the picture then I can share the entire Dropbox with him or her.
That said, I can still code I just wouldnt be able to "test" the code and with my track record chances are a few errors are bound to come up! haha

Don't do it, unable to test your code is really dangerous after editing a whole load of files, trust me
If you mess up one link somewhere, it could even cause in-game game.dat crashes... and you don't want those
