Yes, I have seen them. =D

However, if you wanted the Siege Trolls, then I believe that they could replace the Mountain Giants on the fortress.

Perhaps the other siege trolls would be better suited to replace fortress catapults?

That one has already been discussed already. Let's call these guys the BotFA catapult trolls, there are no animations! =/

I'd kind of like to see them spawned as a bunch, but split up straight away into 3 or so single units, it's not done much in mods, but I think it'd fit them.

But what's the point? 3 trolls after 3 minutes, or 1 per minute, does it add anything valuable? What if you could afford 2 trolls in terms of CP, but can only build 3 at a time, doesn't that hurt more than it adds?

Oooh. That'd be neat to have the catapult trolls on the fortress expansions. Much better than mini stone giants.

Damn... Well, I hope you come to your sense. Would be a badass mount ability for Legolas.

There are no anims to support such a rig...

But I will most likely change the rock throwing giants into the RotWK troll sling for the fortress expansions, since BotFA clearly showed that the goblins could operate catapults.

Well, you could go a little insane and put a small catapult model on a platform on the back of a troll model by attaching it to a bone (via code), then scale it up ingame. You know, how Haradrim archers work on Mumakil.

I did not know that could be done. Cheers, that sorts out a load of complications for me too!

But that would make the catapult rotate, no?

I guess that would depend on how it's coded.

You can't do it exactly like the Haradrim Archers, unless you want them to be semi-independent. Haradrims are semi-independent of the Mumakil, because you control the mumak, and decide who to attack with it. The archers don't give a shit, and fire on the nearest enemy they see. You can't control them. And if you can control them (because you've activated it in the code), they're still semi-independent in the sense of having to click on the catapult on the trolls back to attack something with it, rather than picking the troll, then attack something, and have the catapult fire, while the troll itself stays within range. And, as you know, semi-independent Haradrim archers rotate at will. So you'd want to make it all a part of a single object, with two different layers for the model (like buildings work with the Bib; it's a different model, but it still shows). You'd have to have the same animations for all entries, but use different skeletons. And even then you won't be able to attach it to the back of the troll, unless I'm missing something.

At any rate I would recommend getting a completely new set for these trolls, if going down this road. They simply move a bit differently, and have to behave differently because of the catapult on it's back. After all, the trolls lean forward and rest on their arms when the catapults fire, while the goblins hang on tight when it's arched up and moves. Attaching a catapult to a troll would simply be a poor choice.
