Gameplay

This is the Firehawk replacement.

It performs the same as the firehawk, but it has access to an additional upgrade, the Hardpoints upgrade.

Hardpoints

This is the same style upgrade as it is in Kane's Wrath, but there are some differences that need to be discussed.

The first is that this upgrade actually gives the Warhawk more ammo then the Firehawk gets from the KW Hard point upgrade!

Simply put, it doubles the ammo of the Warhawk!

This obviously means that you only need half the number of aircraft to do the same amount of damage as you would have before the upgrade was purchased.

Fully loaded!

To counter the greatly increased damage potential (especially when combined with the Stratofighter upgrade), the weapon reload time is also doubled.

Skilled Firehawk controllers are going to be nightmarish with this upgrade, so it is a good thing that Tiberian history has a lot of effective anti-air to counter them!

Upgrade exploit

The way that the ammo upgrade works, is that it completely replaces your old weapon with a new one (it is not merely adjusting the ammo count of an existing weapon).

The reason that this is significant, is that if the older weapon is empty, upgrading to the higher ammo weapon will fully replenish the ammo, even in mid flight!

So a high level tactic is to pause the upgrades research just before it is finished, and do a standard bombing run, but instead of returning to base to refill, right click an area of the map constantly to cancel the automatic return to the airfield, then finish the upgrade research, and use your new weapon to hit the enemy again!

This is a cheesy tactic, but somewhat acceptable.

PS. You can do the same thing with Orcas as well. Indeed why not both at the same time!

Control the skies!
