Cant connect to other players

Best Answer Dimitery, 29 March 2016 - 04:02 AM

Well it seems a new modem/router has solved my issue, not only that I dont have the "losing con every 5 mins" issue. Just so you know my previous modem/router that gave me nothing but trouble was a Netgear CG3000 and the new one is a Netgear CG3000 2.0. Also, before I installed the new one I tried putting my modem/router into bridge mode and using another router, this fixed the issue as well. So the problem was in fact with my old modem/router.

Is there a way to change my routers nat type back to "cone"?

No idea, that depends entirely on the router. This is something we will not be able to help with, unfortunately.

If you really have a symmetric NAT it will be very, very unlikely you'll be able to play with other people.

Actually when before my parents change our ISP I had a router where GameRanger said it's "Symmetric NAT router" too...

But before EA/GameSpy shutdown their Natneg server in August 2014 I was able to play on C&C:Online without any problem... (Then I had to turn DMZ on before we change our ISP)

Probably there're still something we can do since EA did it?

Call your ISP? Get your router replaced?

You may very well find that that fixes your problem.

That mechanism works differently in RA3. The earlier games don't use a NAT negotiation server. I think you were referring to RA3?

Yes... I thought both CNC3 and RA3 use NAT negotiation server...

No, all games before RA3 do NAT negotiation "by themselvees" via Peerchat commands. The GameSpy NATnegotiation server is a bit more clever though.
