Something of a boring little update but nice for the future. The game now loads all text strings from a file, rather than having all the text buried in the code as it was previously. This obviously makes it much better organised as all the text is in one place and externally editable, but better yet allows for multiple languages in future.

Also working on new art for stuff and increasing the size of some of the rooms so the house feels a bit bigger and spacious, but hopefully not empty. And of course slowly adding actual game content...

The bowl is actually a microtransaction bowl where you can leave change that goes directly to me. I was thinking of putting myself in the game as a beggar, but that might be too obvious.

If I reach the stretch goal I'll add "examine bowel" too.

Random screenshot of shit in progress.

And a gif because it shows off the "camera magnet". Basic stuff for games maybe but since I know nothing, every bit of this feels like an achievement. :p

The lighting is amazing.  I especially love the bits where you can see a bit of lightning cast a shadow of the windows.  The thing that needs the most work are those arm motions on the character.  They're a bit too flamboyant and noodely, and the left arm passes the back half of the body impossibly.  It's more of a walk people do casually, but since this is a horror game, I would imagine you may want to study motion from individuals skulking anxiously rather than strolling.

Ideally the character would be remade entirely at some point, she's definitely not remotely final. She also has a limp, which might be good for horror but totally inexplicable.

Actually, giving your character some sort of physical handicap would be great.  If I saw a horror game where the main character relied on a crutch the whole time, it would certainly get my interest since that is so rarely / never done in games like this.

True, handicapped people are pretty scary. Maybe half way through the character could get injured and need a crutch or something, making the last half more difficult with reduced movement speed, or it might just be an idea for another game. I suppose that is something that happens in movies a lot, but not in games (at least not with real gameplay effects).
