Hello! I've followed the detailed instructions to the letter and have failed to run the game. Every attempt leads to a "BFME 2 has stopped working".

I have fiddled around the compatibility and nothing works. I've got DirectX 12 and am using the graphics card on my laptop that's not integrated (NVIDIA GeForce GTX 850M).

I've read that this is an ongoing problem with a large number of users of Win10 but haven't so far been able to find a solution.

No version of the game works (neither 1.06, nor 1.08, nor the original version).

Did you try mounting the mini-image? https://forums.revor...allation-guide/

Yes, of course.

By the way, complete the same problem is with the Rise of the Witch-king.

BFME1, in the other hand, works just fine.

Did you check your options.ini?

If it is fine and still does not work, you can try to disable the NVIDIA card instead.

"To know what question we may reasonably propose is in itself a strong evidence of sagacity or intelligence. For if a question be in itself incongruous and begs for uncalled-for answers, it holds, sometimes, besides embarrassing the proposer, the disadvantage to seduce the unguarded listener into giving absurd answers, and we are presented with the ridiculous spectacle of one (as the ancients said) milking the he-goat, and the other holding a sieve beneath."

What precisely do you mean regarding the options.ini? It's there, if that's what you ask.

I did; the situation is identical with the integrated one.

Try manually installing DirectX 9.0c. http://www.microsoft...ls.aspx?id=8109

This tool will only extract the needed files to a specified folder. From that folder, run DXSETUP.exe as administrator (and run the games as admin as well, while we're at it).

____________

If all that doesn't work, you might be having trouble emulating the mini-image. Alcohol 52% and WinCDemu are more reliable than Daemon Tools. As for RotWK, you can bypass the entire process with the modified game.dat from the 2.02 download link (it's essentially a 2.01 game.dat, it's just only used by the 2.02 crowd and you'll be incompatible with 2.01 players online).

You mean, this? https://www.microsof...s.aspx?id=34429

EDIT: Can't install it. It popups "You must be running Windows 98, Windows Millennium Edition, Windows 2000, Windows XP or Windows Server 2003 family to install DirectX 9.0".

What you posted is the web installer, and that's a known issue with it. What I posted is the full package, which works on Windows 2000, XP, Vista, 7, 8(.1) and 10.

I've downloaded and installed it and there is still no difference.

Upon running the dxdiag to check the DirectX version, however, "12" is still written.

I've heard on Facebook rumors that they're working on an installer for BFME2 and that'll solve this issue and make it playable for Win10 users again.

Is that true?

I can't comment on that, but I'm sure you can get it running in win10. Did you try everything that was suggested here, including the new 2.02 rotwk game.dat, running in compability modes and as administrator, with antivirus allowing it?

hallo, i think i have the same problem, does anyone have a solution ?

if u have the same problem as I do..

this work for me

he game was not allowed to create an options.ini in the C:\Users\[your login name]\AppData\Roaming\My Battle for Middle-earthicon1.png™ Files folder. So if you don't see an options.ini you'll have to create one yourself... it should contain the following lines:

AllHealthBars = yes

AlternateMouseSetup = no
AmbientVolume = 50
AudioLOD = High
Brightness = 50
FixedStaticGameLOD = UltraHigh
FlashTutorial = 0
HasSeenLogoMovies = yes
HeatEffects = yes
IdealStaticGameLOD = Low
IsThreadedLoad = yes
MovieVolume = 70
MusicVolume = 70
Resolution = 1680 1050
SFXVolume = 70
ScrollFactor = 50
StaticGameLOD = UltraHigh
TimesInGame = 54
UnitDecals = yes
UseEAX3 = no
VoiceVolume = 70
