Hello fellow followers, friends, acquaintances, distant relatives, trolls and haters,

I thought it's about time I post something here, I have been banging my head for a long time about this and finally put my hands on it and start writing. Be prepared as this might get long and emotional (at least for me it surely be so). If you are not interested I guess you can skip to the bottom of the page, otherwise take this journey with me.

The mod is somewhat renowned for it's longevity (at least that's how I precept it) being around for I think now 9 years, that seems like A LOT. I joined relatively early and worked on a faction for about 4 years, where I revamped each units every time I came with something new. That seems like a lot of time wasted, and it really was, and I just going in circles and at the end I realized... I wasted my time doing nothing and now I feel I can't go back because there is nothing to go back for, years have past and that's that. Then the inevitably bug in the V2.00 happen and that made us pause modding for 4 years. There have been years where we haven't actually been active, we were just there.. but still people would come here daily, and we might post once in a while somewhat of a "progress". Yeah, now looking back to it it was a very lame excuse to get people watching our page. In honesty since the v.20 release which contained much content brought by CTLN (difficult guy but I guess now I must admit he did more to the mod than I and I guess that is one of the reasons the mod got "famous") we did nothing, that is actually the last release CTLN contributed and the last release RG had time to do stuff. So since then... we will continually ling to ourselves, we still mod, let's mod, we going to recode everything. Then the wonder happened last year, the v3.00 release, which finally had my cool High-Elves. Much hype, shit release cause the mod contained nothing from what we showed except from elves and all other factions scrapped, cause yeah the mod was recoded. And since last year's winter... people stopped coming, yup... I think they got feed up with the long time waiting for things are incomplete. Totally justified, I would be mad at myself also.

But yeah, we were so glad it was just me and RG. But it was not, because nobody actually worked on the mod... time was few and motivation really dropped and at one point RG said there is no point in doing anything for the mod, he totally lost motivation. I'm standing on the brink. Fans are gone, if you probably read this, thank you, thank you for your patience and commitment and sorry for us being us. If no fans are here what's the point of modding anymore? The game is old and so is the community. So the solution was to do what so many other mods did, cancel it! Fairly easy right? It's not like anybody would cry for this? The fans are gone.

But... I can't, I won't. If there is nobody there I'll just do it because if I'll just leave this, some part of me will feel incomplete. I feel if I'll just leave this here and now all those 9 years of modding were for nothing.
RG just went super busy and has none to -10 time for... anything? So more or less, I'm alone. But rejoice! I learned some coding! And I added stuff to the mod myself! (much self accomplishment) But guess what! I... ran out of time, my life went busy also! So I stopped modding also. But these things just happen, right? We've been doing this kind of stuff for years. So for the sake of tradition, let's keep it.

I wanted to do some fancy stuff, stuff that haven't really been done before by any mod. But "age finally caught up with me" and haven't had time for anything... But I have done things, things and I'm proud and I refuse to let them rot in my folders. Ohh did I mention my laptop broke? Don't worry all the files are secured because since this happened to me before I got precautions. So I just saved whatever I could, slapped some cool stuff, added the logo and voila!

--------------------------------------------------------------

In conclusion I will continue the mod but at the moment is on hold. I try to get help from anybody I can on this journey. I know there are bold words but I'm hoping we will see a new release this spring (most likely in April since it's the month we released the last 2 patches and v3.00 version). The next release will be about Wood Elves, of course, but I have plans beyond that. (Hint: maybe get back the old factions up to date in the latest release, eh?) Thank you again and stay cool.

To quote a very famous modder from Revora:

But tradition is tradition and I will show you the ENTIRE planned rooster for the Wood Elves. Yeah they are real and they are pretty much done. Some of them you already seen in previous updates. And a bonus!

I really hope to see this mod keep moving forward.

Modding BFME these days is like the ocean - it comes in waves and sometimes a guy you need drowns. I can seriously relate to your troubles. Similar story for SaF at the moment, but at least you've learned some coding. Your conclusion is good, also: don't let yourself go past that 'I quit' mark and keep it on hold, possibly forever, just in case a new opportunity arises.

Excellent art, as per usual. I like the units (Thranduil and Marchwardens especially), and I love the gate.

Now I'm pretty certain there will always be moments when I'll come back to it, for the same reasons I stated above. It's a very easy trap to continually say "it's still here" when it's not but I'm past it, I know of it. I'm not looking for opportunities, I just wanted to finish what I started, somewhat like what Nertea did when RA got cancelled.

Thanks for the feedback, I know there are loads of modders that went through what I'm going but I figured I should let this out so the few people that are still here know. I still speak with RG almost daily (and when I started to learn coding I really pister him a lot).

So I figured I'll be very busy and show "almost" all the stuff I done lately. :p

I think if possible, valaquenta10 should make some Mirkwood units for the wood elves like in the Hobbit, ex Royal Guard units, scouts, rangers etc

Be careful what you wish for! :p
