Over the past few weeks I noticed some of the C&C fans are still having problems figuring the fix out for Red Alert 3, Origin Version or even manage to put the ERGC key in the wrong path.
In this guide I will not go as much as ahead in details as I did in an earlier
post posted in January. This guide however should be easier to work with and a way faster method to get this solved.
In here I will provide all the information needed as required in order to get rid of this annoying message the moment you try to login.
However, before proceeding. Make sure you are an Administrator, else this change cannot be pushed and might require permission from the computer owner.
Please, only proceed if you are one of the many users getting the error "Registry is corrupt and has been altered" on the Origin or Steam Version(Steam Version is confirmed to share the same registry location as Origin).
This guide however will be open for discussion if you happen to still have problems with this issue.
Step 1
===================
Download the .reg file from the links below, and save it on as example to your Desktop.
For 64-bit users, please download
this file.
For 32-bit users, please download
this file.
Step 2
===================
Go to your Desktop and right click on 'RA3 Origin Fix x64.reg', then select Edit.
If you are an 32 bit user, please download 'RA3 Origin Fix x86.reg' instead.
Step 3
===================
Leave Notepad open for now or whatever program was loaded up for modifying the REG file.
Origin Users
Now we have to figure our License Key out.
Open Origin, to the Left go to "My Game Library", right click on Red Alert 3 game, then choose "Game Properties".
Steam Users
Open the Steam client, open the Games Library and look for Command and Conquer: Red Alert 3.
To the right you'll see an option called "CD KEY".
Then click on the button "Copy key to Clipboard", skip step 4 and go to 5 instead.
Step 4
===================
You should now see an option called "CD key".
Highlight the License key, and Hold Control + C. After that, release.
The License key should now be added to the clipboard.
Step 5
===================
Now go back to Notepad or whatever text editor was opened.
Now look for @="RA3_ORIGIN_KEY_HERE".
Highlight or remove the text RA3_ORIGIN_KEY_HERE and replace it with the License Key we just copied from Origin.
Make sure the quotes are still there after @=. It should look like @="12345FYGEF" or whatever the License Key was.
Now in the menu, click on File and choose Save. (Or Control + S)
You can now close Notepad or whatever text editor was used.
Step 6
===================
Double click on 'RA3 Origin Fix x64.reg'.
There should be an Admin Prompt now, click on Yes.
After this, there will be a warning displayed asking if you want to continue making the changes to the registry.
This message however is designed by Microsoft to make the users aware that unwanted changes could potentially damage the entire OS.
This script however does not touch anything Windows related.
Click on Yes and we should be all set for Red Alert 3.
Final Step
===================
Now Hook the game in the launcher, and try to log in again.
You should now be all set and ready to go for Online Play.
Don't ask me why EA still hasn't fixed this for years... ._.
