Sorry for the long absence. The release is at hand, so I will let you know where I'm at right now.

Mordor Spell Book (12 Powers):

post-92561-1566487120.jpg

1. Tainted Land (1 PP)
- Grants +50% Armor for units standing on the Tainted Land (unchanged)

2. Eye of Sauron (1 PP)
- Grants +50% Damage and +100% Experience to targeted units (unchanged)

3. Corsairs of Umbar (2 PP)
- Summons 3 battalions of Corsairs on the battlefield

Editor's Comment: Corsairs overall health and damage reduced

4. Scavenger (2-3 PP)
- Killed units supply resources (unchanged)

5. Industry (2 PP)
- Grants +100% production to selected furnace or slaughter house (unchanged)

6. Devastation (3 PP)
- Trees supply resources (unchanged)

7. Morgul Witchcraft (4 PP)
- All structures get +50% armor

Editor's Comment: Mordor structures are usually less tanky. Now they can be significantly stronger.

8. Call the Horde (4 PP)
- Increases the Orc Pit production speed drastically for some time. (unchanged)

9. Darkness (8 PP)
- Enshrouds the entire map in darkness. +50% damage and armor (unchanged)

10. Volcanic Strike (7 PP)
- Summons volcanic rocks that smash onto the battlefield. Deals high damage against structures.

11. The Dark Lord (8 PP)
- Unlocks Sauron in the Mordor citadel.

Editor's Comment: Finally, he will be able to join the battle field!

12. Summon Balrog (20 PP)
- Summons a Balrog on the battle field. (unchanged)

Does Morgul Witchcraft affect the buildings visually?

For now it gives them a green tint. I played around with some Morgul FX effects but they didn't look too great and the performance also suffered a lot from it.

Having mixed feelings about that be be honest. :p

It looks a bit like there's a graphical error and renders the buildings greenish. Also if I'm not mistaken it affects the house colors.

Yeah, I agree it does not look ideal, but to me it does not look entirely terrible either. And as summer is coming to a close, so is my semester break. And I want to release something before the break is over. :p It does affect the house colors to a degree, but usually the most important part about house colors is to tell units apart, and units are not influenced by the spell. :)

Possibly the best way to do this is to make models (like they do in BFME2 for the fortress I believe), but time is always a problem. Making these spell books and making the AI use the spells properly took me way longer than it should have.. most of the time the art department suffers the consequences.

Well in that case go for it and see how people like it. I guess there are some tricks that could work here but at the end of the day a release is better than a no release. :p

It looks a lot better now. Mathijs saved the day. It looks really great now. But since the release is only like 1-2 days away I won't spoil it yet. :p
