Do you guys recall the carrier post way back sometime in august? Well I dunno it sounds like an awesome idea! here's my version:

USS Nimitz Carrier

cost to build: 20,000
Build limit: 1
The goods: can carry up to 10 aircraft that you can build individually or all at once.
Good defense and armor
Has anti aircraft turrets and SAMs
has scramble the fighter feature.
The bads: SO freaking slow
Build time and cost is freakishly high

This is my wish list for a carrier!
If you want to add or delete my ideas feel free to do so.
If you guys want to yell at me for this useless idea, feel free to do so. ;)

i like it

aircraft options:
FA-18 Hornet: It just HAS to be in this game. An aircraft carrier is the perfect place.

F22: Someone posted a carrier variant of the Raptor a while back with F-14-style swing wings. That looked too cool to leave out. Besides, it looks like something the USN would have.

Switchblade: I know I mentioned this a thousand times, but it would be perfect for an aircraft carrier with the swing wings.

Choppers: EVERY US heli in the game should be buildable on the carrier.

Amphibious Transports: You have lots and lots of buttons for the transport. Each one puts out the same transport but with a different load.

Aircraft optins:
F/A-18D Hornet
F-16?!(is this in the navy?)
and others........
Blackhawk(a must)
comanche?!

an f-16 would be an awesome addition to the game tho ;)

IDK if the F-16 is a navy plane. I don't think so.

There's a STOVL(short take off vertical landing) variant of the JSF. Add that to the list.

Harriers, maybe.

Good idea about the harrier.
The british royal navy uses it alot for their navy from what Ive heard. so it should have slots on the side for the harriers? like on battlefield 2.

Harriers could use the same slots as other aircraft, they just take off quicker.

The carrier should have the same amount of aircraft as the land bases, in my opinion. In earlier posts there were people who were suggesting that a bigger version of the airfield should be placed in the game ,and that the new airfield should be increased to anywhere from six to eight aircraft slots in total.

Cost 20,000 sounds low to me, surprisingly. I would have said 40,000 to 50,000 or more. With the U.S. supply drop being $48,000 per drop it would only take a drop or two to be able to afford a carrier.

Build limit 1. Yup, definitely.

'can carry up to 10 aircraft that you can build individually or all at once'. - I don't agree with the 'all at once' one. It should take time to set up an attack of that magnitude. And that time would be represented in the game by having the normal time delay it takes to build an aircraft.

In other words the build delay would actually represent the time it would take to get a fighter armed, on to an elevator, and up to the flight deck for launch. You could have multiple elevators running, so I would have to say three or four at a time, but not eight or ten.

Good armor yes, but not the 'invincible' armor that the big battleship has in the game.

'Has anti aircraft turrets and SAMs' - You bet it should. It also should be equipped with an MK 15 Phalanx Close-In Weapons System: http://www.globalsec...stems/mk-15.htm

'has scramble the fighter feature' - Are you talking like an auto-scramble feature? If someone comes within your defensive zone? If so that's not going to work. By the time the aircraft get off the deck the enemy fighter will have already reached the ship and dropped their ordinance.

I think the carrier should have F-18s, JSF aircraft, and the new EF-18 electronic warfare fighter.

The aircraft carrier should also feature a pavehawk helo for search and rescue operations of downed pilots. An armed pavehawk that can pickup and heal the pilot while inbound to the carrier. The pavehawk could have only 4 seating slots and a have a build limit of two, in order to prevent this type of copter from being used as a full blown spammable game ending, assault chopper.

The carrier should have the ability to launch a single uncontrollable E2C Hawkeye from the carrier. This aircraft flies all around the map at random. It basically 'unmasks' the fog of war briefly in its area as it flies around the map. In other words it acts like a scout.

I don't agree, the full blown attack choppers, harriers, and amphibious transports, should be left to an amphibious assault ship, such as the Wasp class amphibious ships.

I like, I like... But wasn't it said earlier that an aircraft carrier was impossible to code (at least a moving one) without simulating something like having the aircraft stored below decks. I think, that instead of you building the aircraft yourself, you choose a strike of F/A-18s, JSFs, EF-18s, F-14s, or deploy the E2C which flies around at random. When you select one of the strikes, 10 of the aircraft are instantly made (like they were there all along) but take time to launch. Then, when they come back, they land, disappear under the decks, and are "destroyed." This way, it's a compromise between having it move and having it launch sorties.

Also, wasn't there a sea devil made? Sea Devil That would be perfect for a carrier.

The transports I especially like, with the different loadouts. You should also be able to create this. The Mark V spec ops vehicle, used primarily by the Navy SEALS. Although Vanguard said the SEALS would only be placed in the World Builder, this should be the exception. It should come loaded with four-five SEALS who can fire out the sides. That'd be nice. ;)

*EDIT*I like the landing ship, too.

very nice

The USA has everything specialized, so that would work as a seperate ship. China should get them all in one wiht slightly decreased effectiveness in each one. IDK what GLA or Militia should get.

Do carriers ever have big cannons like the ones on the destroyers? They're definetly big enough. If they ever do, I would suggest a big gun on top of the control towerr so it stays out of the way of inbound airplanes.

BTW, a Harrier might get up fast enough to drop an attacker.

Is there any way to allow construction of a buildable surface? If you really want to go coding crazy make it so you can have a Dozer on deck building AA defenses or a Linear Tank to shoot nearby ships.

I think someone made a fully functional carrier in some mod with the planes above deck. They really should be built individually like the standard airfield, maybe a tad faster.

The Sea Deil comes from the Tech Airport. I think it should completely replace the troop blackhawk. The USA could have Switchblade buildable at the tech airport instead.

Carriers usually get small guns. The largest I ever saw were about 24cm. guns. Usually they're directly in front of and behind the bridge, out of the way of the deck.

The Chinese should get one that launches flights of 5 MiG-29s or Su-27s, since their strength isn't air power.

The US should get a buildable battleship, though. I always wanted one! It should have cannons with laser targeting technology, Tomahawk launchers, SAMs, and vulcan AA guns. That would be a lot of fun. You should only get five-ten, though.

One person over on the filefront.com forums mentioned that he had modded a working carrier, but I haven't played with it. So I don't know the details of what it does and doesn't do. So, I can't really comment on whether carriers can actually be done or not.

***

As for the Sea Devil, yes it's in Project Raptor and is build able at the Tech Airport which you must physically place on your map using worldbuilder, before you play the map.

It's a nice chopper, armed with a Vulcan cannon (I believe), and has 8 slots of payload space to carry infantry and tanks at the same time just like the Chinook.

***

As for the Mark V spec ops vehicle, I would probably leave that to the amphibious assault ship as well. That's not to say that it couldn't be used by an aircraft carrier. I just think thats more likely used by an amphibious carrier.

In the end though, I doubt that you'll see any type of carrier in PR, unfortunately. Although, it's fun to talk about it.

They can operate from shore facilities, from well-deck equipped ships or from ships with appropriate crane and deck space capabilities.

They are usually deployed from carriers because of their superior storage space. Landing ships usually just carry the landing hovercraft for the Marines, but, as far as I know, never SEALs.

'By contrast, the Mk V is a military-designed boat, capable of carrying 16 SOC personnel. Manufactured by Halter Marine Inc. starting in 1995, the Mk V was built to meet the needs of the special operations community. For starters, the Mk V can be easily delivered to its operational theater. It can be delivered by C-5A Galaxy aircraft (To see a humorous picture concerning a C-5A, click here), on well- or deck-equipped amphibious warfare ships, or even self-deployed if within range (500 nautical miles).'

Should have the SH-60 Seahawk for its helicopter.

For gunship, should use AH-1Z Supercobra, the AH-64 and the cancelled RAH-66 were ground-based only.

Harriers? No. Only Amphib carriers have the harriers.

Planes:
EF-18
Navalized F-22, or F-23
JSF
SH-60
E-2D Hawkeye
