And LINUX doesnt work very wel, because its far too complex for the average user. You need to know quite a lot about computers if you want to work with LINUX. THAT is its main problem.
Daeda, when was the last time that you used a Linux?
As for the rest of your reply, Blaat has answered it already:
you will never know if that would have happened. You can't say that for sure. People would have come up with things
In short, if there was no Microsoft, there could be an IBM O.o? Afterall, IBM was also following the path of personal, cheap computers. Or anything else, who knows? Computers would be very different.

And two, how do you know Microsoft isn't going to make evil plans? And three, tabs are very handy if you need to be on multiple sites at once. I, for once, hardly ever am on one site only. When you have dialup, one site can load while you read/reply at the other. Your start bar just gets cluttered with all these IE windows if you use IE. Also whenever I browse with IE, I get way more popups than with FF. FF blocks most, while IE does not. IE also has more spyware and adware infections. Before I used FF, I had this annoying adware in IE that was not detected by any program, a minute after starting up IE it'd go in full screen mode and load this ad page. Only way to get rid of it was to termine IE via the task manager and start it up again to continue browsing.
What makes you think FF isn't 'supervised'? It's open source, if anything there's a lot of people working on it. Rather than from a huge company where only a few know certain parts of the code. What's "gay" about a fox?
Luckily we can all choose the browser we like.

Just because it says 'Microsoft' doesn't automatically imply it equals 'good'. The easiest way is not always the best one, in everyone's opinion. You may not been keen on FF, but I am, so what do you care?
Those last two lines didn't make much sense to me. What does a browser have to do with how many time you spend behind the computer? What gives you the right to call me sad for browsing Revora with FF instead of IE? Pretending to be a girl to get attention is much more sad imo .
I'm thinking you sat on the roof and had really long arms to type this, no?sitting in front of your computer is bad for you.

However Gaia was talking complete crap wwhen saying "how do you know MS isnt installing stuff on your pc" well for the obvious reason that if MS did that they would be sued by quite some people.. and believe me, if things like that would occur we would know.
BTW Norton anti virus is like the windows of virusscaners.

Anyway, OS also has its negative sides.. its awfull hard to make money out of it, because securing your own software for protection is kinda hard if everyone has complete acess to the OS that controlls it. Therfor it is rather hard for LINUX to become the standard OS if you ask me. Free is a word most compagnies to not like.

( unless of course you buy a PC with it installed etc )
but you can buy new copies and standalone versions.

And the only reason why linux is secure is because no one uses it except 1337 people who make viruses.
