Well i got a spare moment this afternoon and decided to do a moon/ocean/night scene of somesort. This isn't the best i've done before, especially since the water looks a bit false. But i think its still worth putting up here :blink:

Nothing as fancy as the rest of you but something i started and finished over my time in hospital and this evening :p My practice of shading and lighting.

This is based on a drawing my GF did but all this is drawn by hand and then touched up and shaded in in PS


It's not really practice if you don't have an end point to work towards, ie. have something to observe directly. What you're doing is just imagining what it "should" look like, this would prove especially hard and look incorrect if you haven't previously tried to render how light reacts with a real world object, be it from direct observation or a photograph, and committed those observations to heart.

Just some crap I made in 10 minutes to use on a website. The rendering itself took 25 minutes, which is not a bad figure considering that I even have HDRI maps on this.

As you can see even our sky is red (at least partially). Either way felt like a great pic to make.
