well for Zero Hour it would be

<root>\My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data\

the folders should already be created, but make the folder in their in order to get it to work... or just place .big file in there, you only need one or the other not both. Although when distributing a mod it would be best to do so in .big formate

Try as I might, I am not able to get the -mod command to work properly for my mod. The *only instructions I have been able to find online are here:

http://gendev.origin...en_tut_modcomma

Which does not seem to be working for me. These instructions are unclear and imply that you have to both have a directory and .big file to use the -mod command (which does not make much sence)

I have tried many different things, but if someone could post what needs to be done, I would greatly appericate it

C:\(...)C&C Generals Zero Hour\Data\<mymod>

where <mymod> has the following sub folders:
<mymod>\Data\INI
<mymod>\Data\INI\Objects
<mymod>\Data\INI\Defaults

Thanks

Make sure you have the latest version of Generals. The '-mod' command does not work with older versions.

I will try that, but being that im at work I dont have the option completely available to me!

However: <root>\My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data\
holds only the save file imformation does it not?

Seems like a super shoddy place to install a mod. That would explain alot tho, ill give that a try.

I am running version 1.02 for zero hour. According to http://www.eagames.c...mos.jsp?state=6,

its the latest.

I am probably just doing somthing stupid.

1. Do I need to create both a directory structure AND a .big file?
( I assume no)

2. Where do I store the mod files?
C:\Program Files\C&C Generals Zero Hour\Data\<my mod folder>

is what I think...
and in <my mod folder>.....
<my mod folder>\INI
<my mod folder>\INI\Objects
<my mod folder>\INI\Defaults

.... do I need somthing in an ini to say "hey, im a mod"?

------------------------------

BTW, my mods work perfectly when placed in:
C:\Program Files\C&C Generals Zero Hour\Data\INI

I've not used it in ages (easyer to put the files in the folder manualy while making a mod). I think it was 'Root:\My Documents\Command and Conquer Generals Data\HERE'.

the whole -mod command has flaws, its not by far close to perfect, using it does not override everything despite having all correct paths in the *.BIG file you use <_<

Sadly, I have not yet gotten this -mod command to work. I have tried so many permutations I am begining to believe that this -mod command will not work unless you do infact have a .big file.

The default directory structure of the base data folder is as follows:

data\INI
data\INI\Objects
data\INI\Defaults

data\curors\
data\Art\

my perseption is that the files should go in the following way
<mymod>\INI
<mymod>\INI\Objects
<mymod>\INI\Defaults

<mymod>\curors\
<mymod>\Art\

in "\My Doc(...)\C&C Generals Zero Hour Data\ "

I have tried everything from laying the files flat in the base directory mod to creating data sub-folders. If this does in fact work, then someone please describe whatever mystical directory structure you used to accomplish this task, I would greatly appericate it.

BTW: Of course if I ever distrubute any of my mods I would use a .big file, however if you have a few little projects renaming the folders in the generals INI & Art directories becomes quite cumbersome. This is why im so adiment about getting this to work properly.

yeah, i've never successfully got it to work with folders... I had only tried once or twice though... what I think it is... and this is really gay, but I have a theory that you have to put the .big file in the folder with teh same name, then it would read it.

I'm not sure though, I just put stuff in my data folder though when I'm testing my modifications and such.

Sorry for the necro-post, but I just happend across this topic, and recently worked out how to use the -mod command. You need the .big file with the name of your mod in <blah>/My Documents/Command and Conquer Generals Zero Hour Data/

The command line needs -mod <.big name> adding. And thats it.

Second Wave is mod too. You need ZH to start SecondWaveZH, but you don't for the normal one... I think.
You cannot compare pissing to thinking
