Israel has every right to occupy the strip at this point. Palestine isn't a recognized nation, and now they've gone too far with abducting and killing people like the insurgency in Iraq. When Arafat died, they promised peace. That has not happened, and as a result, they should lose their land. You don't jab a tiger with a pin and expect it to be patient.

compared to the insurgency in Iraq, the Palestinian actions are drops in the sea. besides, it seems that the Israelis prefer that the Palestinians attacks and kidnaps civillians instead of military personell. what would you prefer, an enemy that attacks military targets or civilian targets? Israel likes it when they attack civillians because that gives them sympathy from the west. As soon as the palestinians start attacking/kidnapping military personell, they get a counterattack alot more powerful than they normally get when someone blows up 10 Israeli civillians...
on the topic of Hamas: they have been passive until the last few weeks, following their ceasefire agreement that have been in action for two years(and they didnt return fire until the Israeli army moved into the Gaza strip so you can't say that it was they who started).
if some other radical palestinians have been doing some minor bad stuff you can't really blame the rest for their idiocy. its like if i said that the US should be warred upon because there are White supremasists killing people that they don't like over there. would you like to be killed by some military power because of some white supremasist down south did something that you personally believe is bullshit?
(naturally its a bit suspicious that Hamas claims to have the hostage now, although it didnt seem to have been them who captured him in the first place.)
another good article on the topic of whats happening over there. its not like i'm saying Palestinians are completely innocent, but they are the weaker part in this tragedy.

by the way, i think it was a good move of Israel to move the settlements out of the Gaza strip last year. although its a small place, i believe that helped out a bit on the conflict.
maps over Israel/palestine notice how that fence construction flows into the west bank? its kinda interesting that they can't keep their walls on the border, but have to eat up a few pieces of fertile land while they are in the neighbourhood.
