Why the hate?

I'll assume they did good before I asume they did bad. EA and Revora are tight. Let us keep this relationship well defined.
An expanded Generals playfield with an great extended story line? And matured particle effects? This is just wonderful stuff, I can't wait.

I've always hated EA. They dumb down games incredibly, bringing them to the level of a four year old who is proficient with rapidly tapping the numpad. The RTS genre has become a ridiculous tap-fest where the first person to spam some tanks automatically wins. There's no strategy left save for quick movements of the finger...

A lot of people hold a lot of affinity for the Tiberian storyline, Tiberium itself and the universe mechanics portrayed through TD and TS, and don't want to see that ruined. Let's put it in another way out of EA context, shall we? Stephen Spielberg made Jurassic Park and The Lost World. Both of which were great films (and with special effects that still look good to this very day). Then some other dick came along and made JP3, which sucked so much ass it choked, literally as well as metaphorically.
Then we have the Babylon 5 universe. JMS had proceeded to start the golden age of Sci-Fi television, then the network came along and corrupted his vision in the Crusade spinoff. Insensed by their requirements of 'more sex, more violence, more scantily-clad females' (sound familiar to the common EA mandate, for games such as TimeSplitters - Future Perfect amongst others), he canned the series halfway through and all production on B5 stuff has since ceased.
And given EA's track record for producing subpar stuff (Generals, anyone?) and/or wrecking perfectly good franchises (Generals, Need for Speed - although Most Wanted did redeem them somewhat, the James Bond games (GoldenEye Rogue Agent, Nightfire...blah onwar), Godfather (what the fuck, anyway?), FIFA, etc), we have at least grounds for concern. Indeed, the best EA games I've ever played (and they were good games...no, they were great games) were on the original PlayStation and the Mega Drive (aka Genesis), back when they also had a cool logo
Maintaining a healthy amount of skepticism ensures one won't be disappointed, but instead will be pleasantly surprised if and when one turns out to be wrong

Examples:
The Sims - We've seen umpteen bajillion Sims releases, a few every few months. They're mostly just crummy content packs.
Battlefield - BF2 is full of big bugs, exploits and gameplay issues. The singleplayer is terrible, thrown together rapidly. The final mission is retarded. Most of the time you're dead before you even get to move. Yet we're seeing 7 releases in two years (two of which are yet to come) - shoddy 'countergames' which are being released purely to use brandname to attempt to lose sales to competitors. Three months is not adequate development time for an AAA title. Battlefield 2142 exists purely to try and detract from sales from Quake Wars, and Battlefield Bad Company exists purely to detract sales from GTA style games.
EALA are now turning into that - BfME II was released only a few months after BfME (as a countergame for Age of Empires 3?), and now we're seeing an expansion pack being held on to until christmas. CnC 3 is set for release next year, but we're still seeing BfME releases? How long after CnC 3s release are we going to see an expansion for it too?

Even amongst the aforementioned Sims expansion rubbishness and the obvious release strategies with expansion packs and releasing games that are basically slightly improved versions of other ones, they do release some awesome games.

It's no secret, though, that EA rush-release a lot, and as a result turn what could otherwise have been a really good game into a mediocre one at best.
Then there's all the licensed stuff they do. Movies, with the exception of...three, at most, don't translate well into videogames. They also naff up franchises a lot.

I will choose success before I see failure.
My sentiments exactly. Id rather play before I criticize.
And EA doesn’t bother me all that much, they’re just like any other big company trying to succeed in business. They do dub down their games somewhat but its only so they can open up the game to a larger target audience and hence, make more money. Its understandable and as long as they give decent modding support I’m fine with it. If I’m unsatisfied with a game I can change it to my own liking.
They aren’t nuns, they wont wipe your arse for you with quilted bog roll. They're cost savvy. They'll send you out to the dunny with cheap roll and a newspaper. I don’t blame them, I wouldn’t touch your arses...much.

*cough* harry potter *cough*
the problem with EA is that they're too good at marketing, which means they can even sell the crappiest of games in large numbers. but of course they're not all crap (i personally enjoy BF 2, simcity, BFME (and 2 when modded), most of the bond games (but rogue agent is poo), and C&C)
still i don't really care, as long as they make their games moddable

BTW... where did that sudden interest of yours for CNC3 come from?
