Got a bit of webspace I'm using for personal stuff along with making an html accessible mirror for Modtoaster mods that folk don't manage to download with the Modtoaster tool and I thought it might be a good idea to add mod specific map and mission packs.I've played a few of the 0Nobody missions and know you folk put together very decent maps and missions for Project Raptor.
A two part ask here, permission to make a pack and mirror it on my website as well as the maps and missions it's ok for me to mirror.I'll be making it up into one big .rar file and it would probably be a good idea for the maps and missions to all be named in a manner that says they are Project Raptor specifics I'm approaching a few different mod teams with the same ask.
Thanks in advance.

You are permitted to do so, as long as you provide me with at least the HTML.
I would also like permission to update the site with new maps, when I release them.

I would like the public to have my maps as soon as they are ready.

Regarding maps... and since I installed modtoaster #2, I can no longer build PR maps, unfortunetly because the new mod toaster seems to clear the files after exiting the game, the world builder always has normal ZH units. I was wondering how I could correct that problem. Any suggestions?

If no one can answer that question here you should consider taking that question to the ModToaster forums. It's one question that they would be better suited to answer since they created the program. None of the PR staff are with the ISOTX programming team.

Noboby, what I'm aiming for is a single rar or zip file per mod with a very basic site navigation as per drop menu, www.xjgarage.org/modtoaster/index.html for an idea of the layout. So a direct access to my web server isn't an option. Its a very basic file mirror and map pack setup.
Can't give any advice re mapping with Modtoaster installed as I'm clueless re mapping short of quick edits if someone's gone silly on map difficuly, which is just using the ZH map builder.
I'll be updating the pack as new mod specific maps are available, preferably emailed to me via my profile or PM me for my MSN details.

Thing is, some people may not want to get a map multiple times. For example, a new map makes people waste time getting the whole map pack again, just for one map. Waste of people's time, if ya ask me.

This from the guy who puts out a map, and then puts out revision after revision of the same map, day after day, for at least a week.

You are correct though. People don't want to download the same map again and again. So the solution is to finish you map completely first (like most everyone else does) and then release it to public and/or his map pack.

Then a few months down the road, if you've learned several new tricks and you feel that you must re-edit your map, then you can re-release the update to the public, or wait for the next version of his map pack to be released.

Bottom line, stop your practice of releasing unfinished maps to play. Finish them completely first. Showing screenshots of unfinished maps though to promote your maps just prior to release, is still a good thing though, in my opinion. (as long as it isn't a daily update or anything like that)

That's my two cents worth. I think you'll find others here feel the same way.

Happy mapping! :)

Well its not exactly a modtoaster issue, you see, with the first toaster, when I played PR, the files for PR remaned after game exit, and the world builder was also modded. With the new mod toaster that is no longer the case. I highly doubt that ISOTX believes people used the mod toaster for anything else then playing the mod, they thought having the files cleared or whatever it is they do, wouldnt cause anyone trouble.

How do you, the moders, create maps with your mod?

forgive me if I'm looking kind of stupid but there are prompts regarding adding files and folders and fikles to an existing directory in XP and various other flavours of Windows so the update process of map packs shouldn't really be an issue,,best I can do so folk know hwat they are unpacking or more to the point downloading is dating the map packs so they know they have the latest pack.Regarding bandwidth usage, and that's sort of an issue here in Oz because you buy usage as well as speed the size of maps are pretty danmned small.
Either way,I use Raptor maps and missions along with other mod group efforts ,enjoy them immensely the efforts,,and trying to create a simple no fuss solution to get the maps out to the folk using Modtoaster using my own webspace versus theirs.I know I could set up some kind of portal set up but like the rest of you the real world does make demands on my time on occassion so I'm preferering a more fuss free set up not requiring excesive effort on my part.

Generally, I have only had to make re-releases of maps after they are released to

A: fix bugs or glitches that come up after a while
B: Change it due to suggestions from other player (I have no beta testers any more, so it's tougher to make a good map)
or
C: to add new features I think of after it's been released.

Besides, I usually get all the revisions in a single day.

How do you, the modders, create maps with your mod?

Speaking as a bata tester and a mapper, I don't have modtoaster installed at all when I'm doing the mapping and testing for PR. It's a bummer for sure, but it's the only way that I know of to do it.

Hope you find another way. Best of luck. :p

We simply download the mod and open up the WorldBuilder. Easy enough. Although I'm not a modder ( full scale, anyways), so I can't tell you for sure. I'm pretty sure its the same thing though.
