Hello, I am just wondering how many people have this type or a quad core and how they are at playing games and other thing you may do with them, And is it worth the price would i be disappointed

They rock, but not many games or programs even use the other core to its full extent sadly..

Ok so i have some feedback beings daeda has one:p But now its time for me to find some where to buy one the lowest price i have found it £120 but does any one know of any others that are cheaper and ship to the UK if so i would greatly appreciate this.

Oh And does any one else have a core 2 duo more feedback would be nice.

Can't say I've used one, but I've heard some really great things about them. Cheaper and more powerful then AMD.

Yeah Alot more powerful but as bolt said not many games use both core's the new suprme commander i think does and i wonder about CNC3 but still i really want one but i dont have the info of my mother bored

I have an Intel 6600 core duo. It runs better than my previous processor, I suppose, but we won't really see the benefits of dual processors until vista and the next gen PC games come to fruition. In fact, if you don't have the correct software, it is in-efficient to be running two processors and can actually slow down your PC. Or so my computing teacher would have me believe.

I just found a core 2 duo with 1.8 GHz for 94 £ bid on ebay ive been wondering since then should i or not

I'd say not yet. Stick with a one core for now. Much of the stuff still doesn't support double cores, which means you will be losing efficiency in some (or most) cases.

Hes already got dual core anyway, just in the form of a Pentium D. Would stick with that for now personally.. until 2008!

Would supreme commander be able to run on a ATI Radeon X1300?

Hmm i don't know im not so good with computer parts but i heard that the beta requires g-force 6800 i have a 7300SE so i have got it good

The efficiency issue does not matter for dual-core, it did for HT. Dual core is 2 cores both running at their own max capacity. At the moment the real benefit is multitasking, you can do 2 CPU intensive tasks without worrying about one slowing the other down.

Saying that, I have 2 Core 2 Duo systems, one desktop and one laptop (E6600 and T5500). They are really good processors and I would recommend them to everyone.

I wouldn't recommend anything but dual core anymore. There are hardly any single core processors anyway, and the added responsiveness of a dual core system is more than worth it. It's so nice to be able to have one core fully loaded, and windows still responds just as snappily as if that program wasn't even running. I barely use my single core desktop anymore, unless I'm gaming (although I can run WC3 [for DotA] just fine on my laptop). I can even keep a game going when my anti-virus or anti-spyware kicks off a scan, as long as it doesn't hit the hard drive too hard (swap is still a problem).
