In my opinion BFME I is a brilliant game, but BFME II sucks big time. EA managed to kill everything unique about that game making another RTS, one of many. The one cool thing in it is Create-A-Hero ability.
I've seen a couple of models/skins that go both with bfme 1/bfme 2. So i was wondering is there any possibility to port a hero created with Create-A-Hero to play with bfme 1?
I guess it is about extracting files from bfme 2 and adding them to bfme 1. But what about everything else?Like abilities not introduced in the original game? Teleportation..I haven't seen it in bfme 1, but it is available in Grim's Hero mod. So it's possible...
Any thoughts, ideas, hints?

Well i reckon it is a waste of time due to the lack of new heroes in bfme 2 dont try that, try to convert the powers and troops.:p

And teleportation ability is used in elven alliance mod (Thranduil uses it at level 10 so dont complain).

And anyway BFME 2 ROCKS ;)

Do you know how to make the models and skins?

Yeah, i guess that's why they call it Create-A-Hero..You kinda create new heroes=))..Why porting existing models is a bad idea and why would anyone want new powers without someone to add them too? Existing bfme 1 heroes are balanced i wouldn't want to change anything in them by adding new powers, i don't wanna mess with balance if i'm not 100% sure of what i'm doing. But new heroes can be balanced because they are made from scratch(not tottaly but still, they are new, so it is forgivable if the are a bit unbalanced)

Do you know how to make the models and skins?

If i'd new, would i be trying to port'em from bfme 2? Think not...Anywayz, i have general knowledge about 3-d modeling but it is not my area of expertise. I'm no modeler.

Yes it's possible, although you wouldn't be able to convert all powers (many of them simply aren't in BFME 1's engine). Also there's no easy way to just copy them over, you'll have to take and adapt parts manually.

In property terms, you should do the modelling from scratch, not just port things over - there are also legalities to consider.

yeah, models were my main concern...So skin and model files from bfme ii are different from bfme 1? Coz i saw on downloads section models and skins that are suitable for both games? How's that compares to what u saying?

No, that's not it at all. The file formats are very similar, and porting them wouldn't be too difficult with a bit of 3dsmax know-how.

The issue is legal. You can't rip content from one game and put it in another, and then distribute it.

:p That was pretty much one of the funniest things I have heard in for long time...First of all, many mods dont really like to give their work for other mod and only way I see that your way would work is: Your mod is for personal use.
