This is just an idea for a mod, anyone is free to use/discuss it, if noone will(use it), i'll try to do it myself(i'm new to game modding, but i do code for a living, so i'll be able to learn fast=)))

I think this idea is for a custom made map and a mod(for custom troops and heroes).


Basic idea is as following:
Somewhere on the map there is a ready camp, where every faction/player can recruit troops and heroes to fight on his side. This idea can vary on what kind of troops or heroes a player can recruit..And of what factions.

Let's take a closer look))

A mod can be created which contains a neutral faction(custom troops and heroes) or existing factions may be used(it's not so much fun tho). Let's call it "The Mercenaries". It may content whatever troops with whatever upgrades a creator of the mod desires(or upgrades for mercenaries can be bought too)...It also contains a number of recruitable heroes.
Then every player can buy troops/upgrades from the outpost!Or from a suitable building. There may be limits to how much troops a player can recruit(so the game won't turn into mercenary wars).
The fun thing is about heroes. Hero is unique(otherwise is wouldn't be a hero=), so when recruited by a player it can't be recruited by another. But when killed it can be. So in the same game players may command same heroes in different times.

Mercenary captains may be introduced. Kinda heroes, but not unique, so they can be bought by every player.

A possibility for recruiting troops of existing factions can be added.


In-game balance problem that i see is that when a mercenary camp is controled by one player so another players can't reach it..
