ARGUMENT FROM CREATION, a.k.a. ARGUMENT FROM PERSONAL INCREDULITY (I)
(1) If evolution is false, then creationism is true, and therefore God exists.
(2) Evolution can't be true, since I lack the mental capacity to understand it; moreover, to accept its truth would cause me to be uncomfortable.
(3) Therefore, God exists.

If of course that is what they are working on.

Apparently a source who knows what's going on inside EA had confirmed it is a Renegade/Battlefield style FPS in the C&C universe.
It'd be very very very easy to use the Battlefield 2 engine as mods have managed getting "building" working in that to some extent (spawning objects at your location at your command in Project Reality, and I believe there's a sandbox mod that features it heavily).
But that wouldn't be very next gen.
Edit:
Earlier this week, Electronic Arts posted a job listing for its Los Angeles studio. The position in question is a sound designer to work on "a next-generation first person shooter game" from "a widely recognized leading sci-fi franchise." Though EA owns the rights to the sci-fi series Syndicate, Wing Commander, and System Shock, EALA is most famous for one sci-fi series in particular--Command and Conquer.
The job listing lead to speculation of a remake or sequel to the 2002 shooter Command & Conquer: Renegade. While the possibility seemed likely, today GameSpot received direct confirmation from a source with knowledge of EALA's development resource allocation that work on a multiplatform C&C FPS is well underway.
Though the source, who spoke under condition of anonymity, wouldn't go into much detail, the project is indeed a "Renegade/Battlefield-style FPS." No information on a title, release date, or specific platforms was provided, but games from EALA's World War II FPS series Medal of Honor have been released for the PC, Wii, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. The most recent C&C game, Command and Conquer: Tiberium Wars, was a bestseller on both the 360 and PC.

If EA got a hold of the Crysis engine, that would make a sick Renegade 2 game!
Do your research - EA bought Crytek not long after the release of Far Cry, they have CryEngine.
All subsequent Far Cry games were developed in house on a different engine by Ubisoft, and they were all awful.

My Wii code: 6472 3114 4930 8707
"Om du kan stå, när alla andra sviktar
och sen klandras du för att just du står rak
Om du kan tro på ditt när andra riktar
sitt välbekanta tvivel mot din sak
Om var minut av nitti sen kan fyllas
med verk av dig som giltigt räknats ner
min vän, som jordens konung ska du hyllas
men du är också man, och det är mer."
