Have fun browsing the forums. There hasn't been an update in weeks, and therefor not much recent discussion. Hopefully our next update, the new fortress, will come with a release announcement of beta4.7. Can take another couple of weeks. Who knows...
Axed Head and A.I. Coder for S.E.E. and ... stuff

Careful. This link is DANGEROUS. Do NOT click it. This one, however, is fine.
I had the meaning of life in my signature, but it exceeded the character limit.

G'day to all!
I've sneaking around in this forum for a long time, and will do so for some time still, if you don't mind.
... reason for 'unhiding' a little: the Site Link in the Board Index "Battle for Middle Earth > Special Extended Edition" does not work anymore, it just directs you to some advertisement.
I was not sure where to post it, so I did it here.
edit:
some 'black' humour to be posted in another topic ...

I just registered a couple of minutes ago...so I thought why not introduce myself?
I'm just an average kid from the US, I'm not all that good at modding (can do a bit of coding and mapping), but I love SEE, so I plan to just be hanging around the forums and drooling over all you guys goodies (thanks Naz!)
And I really love SEE, especially all the added realism and "cinematic-ness"? of it...The new camera work is pretty awesome, I hope to see more of it in the future (my favorite game of all time is Med II Total War, which has an awesome camera system). Kudos to all who worked on this excellent mod!

I am an experienced RTS gamer (having played RTS games for the better part of 10 years.) Favorites include:
-C&C (The originals, BEFORE EA took over Westwood)
-Starcraft
-World in Conflict
-BFME 1 & 2 (After extensive modding of course...)
-Age of Empires (Whole series)
-Sins of a Solar Empire
I've also been an avid tolkein fan since the age of about 9 when I first picked up The Hobbit. Naturally, I was quite excited to hear of an RTS game in Middle Earth. However, EA's BFME 1 (While full of potential and sometimes rather creative) was lacking. I hoped BFME 2 would pick up the slack. I pre-ordered the collectors edition and waited in excitement. Unfortunately, I was entirely let down. It seems EA dropped the ball on this one (and many other projects...) What bothered me in particular was the weak AI, the Rush based gameplay, and the complete lack of respect for Tolkein and especially Peter Jacksons work. So, I spent a good few months tweaking the AI with my basic code knowledge (Simple stuff really. Editing army definitions, changing resource management, etc) At the end of about six months, I found myself with a game that was semi-playable if I went easy against the brutal AI. So I gave up BFME 2 (And RTS games in general) for the past couple years. I moved into the FPS scene (Team fortress 2 mostly) and learned a good deal about game design from several online players. Recentley, I thought I'd fire up BFME 2 for some nostalgia. Surfing the internet, I came across this mod and thought I'd try it out. I have a few things to say.
1. This mod is spectacularly well done. It's probably the most professional looking mod I've ever played. And I've played just about every mod for BFME 1 & 2. Elven Alliance, RJ-ROTWK, etc.
2. It is incredibly true to the movies. You have most definitely accomplished your goal in that regard.
3. The AI is INCREDIBLE. Your AI Coder is a genius. I've had some pretty tough games against the Brutal AI.
4. One of the biggest surprises was that this mod was almost entirely bug free and easy to install. Aside from the save game crash (which I get once in a blue moon) this mod is almost completely error free.
5. In terms of content, many mods (Ie, rhovanion alliance) try to tackle too much. Others try to tackle too little and don't really offer all that much. You've struck the perfect balance. Congrats.
6. Balance. This is the only issue I have with this mod. While the game is balanced in a rough sort of way, there are still some underlying issues. However, I'm not an idiot. I've been lurking these forums for the past week and playing this mod for the past month. I'm aware at just how difficult balancing a mod is. I've played enough RTS games, done enough basic mapping and coding, to understand balance. Which is why I joined this forum. It seems like a very open, and accepting atmosphere. I'm not here to criticize, I'm here to make a few suggestions and hopefully add something to this project that has made me so happy.
Thank you,
-You're friendly source of Calcium.
P.S. Quick question. I've taken a look at RJ-ROTWK and I really want to give it a spin. I don't own ROTWK however. If I were to buy rotwk and install it, would I be able to choose between playing vanilla bfme 2 (plus this mod) and RJ-ROTWK?

Welcome to the forum.
I think you'll still be able to play each. I can play vanilla bfme2 or the expansion or S.E.E. I just have a shortcut for each on my desktop.
As for balance your right it is a raw, rough kind of balance to it but as Nazgul has said the balance will be the absolute last thing the mod will deal with. We'll make a rough balance of course but seeing as we still have many more units to put into the game it's kind of pointless to balance anything until we have everything in game.
I was also completely let down by EA's attampt at bfme2 and found some information on why it was so bad and posted it here.
